“Ellie” and “Goliath” are patiently awaiting their forever home. I believe they could be split up and be okay because Ellie is annoyed by Goliath. Goliath is a big, goofy guy, and she’s a mature lady who likes to sip her wine quietly. 🍷 I’d love to see them go together, but I wouldn’t necessarily consider these guys bonded. They had a meet and greet on Monday, which I had to reschedule for Wednesday, but they decided to buy a golden doodle instead. So these guys will continue to wait….and wait….. and wait. 😒 Worrying about an older dog possibly pottying inside and then deciding to get a puppy is wild. Anyway. Share these guys! There is nothing to say about them besides that they’re well-rounded dogs that like to lounge and play, a little. They appreciate being inside compared to being tied up outside. 🙄 If you can imagine, it doesn’t take much to please them. Goliath lives for food and treats, and Ellie loves to be close to you. Both are approximately 3-4 years old, good in the car and loves a fenced yard. They don’t dig or bark. Goliath does a little counter surfing but They’re great dogs. Goliath has no collar or harness on because he gets warm at night. Please inquire if you are interested!!

I'm getting closer and closer to moving forward with approved fosters only, which means fewer lives will be saved.

Late last night, I got a call from Barney's foster, saying he wasn't allowing them back in the house. I guess he had become aggressive. I was finishing up with Doogie for the night, and it's not something I can rush. I called someone local to help them, but they didn't feel comfortable, which was understandable. It was suggested I call animal control to retrieve him. If AC had to go into someone's home to retrieve him, he would be dead immediately after arriving back at the shelter. I have never had to have animal control remove an animal from someone's home. It will always be me unless they are particularly rabid or something I cannot handle. I'll be the one to ensure they don't deserve a chance.
Anyway, I let them know I was on the way. I got there and retrieved Barney. Roads were more slick where I went compared to where I live, which also delayed me. He is grumpy and old. He groaned the whole way home and insisted on sitting cheek-to-cheek with me on the console. I was reminded why I need that seat divider on my wish list. But honestly, I'm not sure why. I didn't have issues and never have. He leaned up against my shoulder. I was holding the stick shift, just in case he knocked me out of gear, and this guy stretched and licked my hand twice. I got home and got him pottied and situated for the evening. I plan to get him on a Cosequin supplement for joint pain and arthritis along with an anti-inflammatory—good food and treats, along with lots of time for decompression and routine. The easy part is the initial “save” of these guys.
The hard part is realizing that he's so old and weak in his hind end that this may be his last stop. That is the hard part. (Shelter badly mislabeled his age) Commitment and loyalty to the cold, bitter end, no matter how hard it gets. I've never met an animal that didn't deserve a valid chance. I'm not at all bashing anyone. I'm just extremely frustrated. People MUST realize it's not as easy as it looks. Bringing in another life for me cramps the others even more. So, while I'm extremely overwhelmed and spread as thin as it gets, I'll remain good on my promise to Barney when I made the decision to save his life.

Why not have a little story time before bed? 🛌

“Cora” was rescued from the Greenwood area and taken to a local vet, where she tested positive for heartworms. 🪱 Her finders left her at the shelter, and she was scheduled for euthanasia after several months of waiting.🫀I pulled her from euthanasia and worked hard to help her regain her strength and nutrition to be strong for treatment. She had a difficult time overcoming heartworms but survived. She then spent several months in rescue without being adopted. Fortunately, She eventually found her forever home. I cherish this adoption story and her adopters because her owners love her unconditionally, despite her oddities, including her tiny bladder. 🤏

“Riley” loved opening her packages!! 🥹🥰 To see this baby roll and play out of the shelter and given another shot at life is the reason I’m alive!

I sent out $1000 in supplies to fosters yesterday, $3000 this week and while what I do is constant, stressful and financially crippling, its worth every bit of it when I see a video like this of a dog or cat that was as good as dead.

This baby‘s name is “Sally” and Sally had to have her stomach realigned and three hernias repaired from being attacked by a dog. Owner was able to get approved for a $500 care credit but that wasn’t enough to cover the surgery so I helped them pay for the remainder of the bill. If you would like to help them pay this back, anything is appreciated! Sally should heal up and be good to go now! 🥰
