Nope to the nope nope nope! Why did all these people involved fail this dog? This is unbelievable. If owner and ACO won’t take the dog to the vet then you do. Yes, YOU. You load it and take care or it or contact every rescue in the area until someone helps OR you get an estimate from the vet once the animal has been evaluated and you post it and you tell people what happened and what is needed to put this baby to rest and people donate. If they donate enough to leave a $200 balance then you pay it. You just do it because this is a living being and you are just supposed to do right by it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I would have immediately handled this situation and it’s not because I have experience. It’s because I’m not going to sit and watch and animal suffer or die inhumanly. Period. The only time you would even consider shooting an animal is if it’s literally laying there in agonizing pain and you can’t make it to the vet and you know in your heart it’s best. I’ve seen a lot in rescue and this isn’t something I usually come across. Do better. 😞

Lucky, Churro, and Rio (Mom dog and pups rescued from Puerto Rico) were seen at my main vet today. During Lucky And Churro ‘s Spay surgeries, my Brownsburg Vet found something in them called SEP. SEP In dogs is Sclerosing Encapsulating Peritonitis, a rare, chronic condition characterized by the formation of thick, fibrous tissue in the abdominal cavity, potentially encasing organs and causing various complications. The vet confirmed Rio doesn't have SEP. The baby girls are healthy aside from SEP. Some dogs don't show issues initially, but develop them later. Signs include bloating, vomiting, and lethargy. Most dogs with SEP don't show symptoms until they pass. The vet advised monitoring them as you would any other condition. Although there's no cure, medicines can treat inflammation if needed. Since they seem healthy, there's no need to start treatment now. We'll receive a write-up and be given documentation. Obviously I want to find someone who can afford their medical but These girls will have lifetime support from me for the remainder of their lives. They are approximately 11 weeks old and weigh 13 pounds. Mom weighs 23 pounds so these babies will likely stay smaller. They are established at my vet and ready for adoption!! Surrendered through no fault of his own, Andre is a sweet and gentle soul looking for a very special home that understands his needs. He’s blind, but that doesn’t slow him down—he’s crate trained, did well with older kids, and loved playing with other dogs in his previous home! Andre can be a little hesitant with new things (understandable for a sweet guy who can’t see), but with patience and love, he’s ready to blossom. He’s looking for a calm, stable home where he can feel safe and loved, and where he can thrive with the care and attention he deserves. If you're ready to provide Andre with a cozy, predictable environment, he will repay you with all the love he has to give!

Since Riley's arrival here with me two weeks ago, I have been working diligently to address Barrier reactivity and dog aggression, and the results are encouraging. She even left Buster to go to the other yard to potty. Acknowledging these mini milestones is essential to tracking our progress and ultimate success. 💗

Heres my opinion.

Archie’s owner should have depending on the situation, buckled up and sat with his dog to be humanely euthanized instead of dumping him at the shelter and allowing him to go through pure terror of being given up on before being euthanized by a kind stranger. Be real and be honest. Why are you needing to “get rid of the animal”. Is it a good loving animal or one with major issues that you failed and are deciding to fail again by dumping them. Take accountability for you responsibilities!! Stop handing them off to others to deal with. These animals may be perfectly great dogs before you leave them who then crash sitting in a kennel. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Kids climbing all over the dog crying and bawling saying goodbye. A perfectly happy tail wagging boy who barely wagged again for the next 9 years as he lived the remainder of his life here in rescue. It’s pathetic of humans but maybe,
Just maybe the kindest thing we can do sometimes is be that last warm lap they lay in before leaving this evil cold place. It’s late and I am sad. It shouldn’t be like this but it is. To fight a battle with everything in
You everyday and not feel like you’re getting anywhere is exhausting and heartbreaking down to the depths of my soul. ❤️‍🩹 🖤
