Our hearts ache with sadness at the loss of this officer. We are sending prayers to the entire VVPD family, the Bowen family, the fire and hospital responders and our community. 💙💙🙏

It is with profound sadness that we are announcing the passing of our brother Matthew Bowen. Matt was conducting a traffic stop when another vehicle collided with him. Vacaville Fire Dept. along with medical staff from Kaiser valiantly fought to save Matt however he succumbed to his injuries and passed away. He is survived by his wife and two sons. On this day, time stood still for our Association and Department. Thank you all for sending prayers, officers from agencies through out the Bay Area and Sacramento regions assisting with the precession. CHP for all you have done. There are no words, from our hearts thank you. More details will be provided by in the coming days.

It's my annual reminder to refill those meds! I know most of you don't keep your dogs outside on nights like this. If you have to, please check and secure those fences now!

NOW is the time to secure fencing, make sure your gates latch, refill those anxiety medications, put a tag with info on the collar, ensure microchip information is up to date (or get one! $24 at SCAC) .

Don't wait until July 3rd, the fireworks are coming.

Throw it again! And again! And again!

What do you think would happen if you threw it again? Sometimes it seems like we enjoy playing fetch more than our dogs do. And this pup is definitely ready for a break!

As you head out for the holiday season, be aware of a new, not yet understood virus emerging in dogs.

An emerging respiratory illness is a mystery to experts in veterinary medicine, raising concerns among dog owners.

The illness is being closely monitored, but definitive information is not available at this time. It’s important to note that there's no confirmed widespread outbreak at this point.

Experts advise dog owners to consult their veterinary care team if they suspect their pet is unwell. They recommend ensuring their dogs are fully vaccinated and limiting their contact with other animals until the illness is identified and contained. The signs pet owners should watch for are:
· Coughing
· Sneezing
· Nasal or eye discharge
· Lethargy
· Trouble breathing, especially from the stomach
· Blue or purple gums

For a comprehensive understanding of ongoing efforts and insights into the illness, check out this informative article from the American Veterinary Medical Association: https://www.avma.org/news/oregon-dealing-respiratory-illness-incidents-dogs

Our team is monitoring the situation and will report any new helpful information as it emerges. Let's band together to keep our beloved companions safe and healthy! Please seek veterinary care promptly if your furry friend displays signs of this emerging illness.

This is great advice from Francesca's Dog training. It's true for your cats too. Have a safe holiday journey 🐾🦃

This week many of you will be traveling with your dogs in the car. Please keep in mind ALL dogs should be restrained in some way while traveling in the car. Crates or seat belts for dogs work well.
I use a crash tested harness for Ramsay and a crash tested crate for Rupert.
Being able to park and open car doors without the fear of your dog bolting out is crucial.
Safe travels everyone💙🐾💙
