PHYSICAL BENEFITS OF RIDING:
Horseback riding is a fun way to heal the mind & body regardless of a riders abilities or disabilities. Horseback riding is naturally therapeutic. Whether a rider has a physical, cognitive, emotional or sensory disabilities, participants benefit from riding or connecting with horses. For physically challenged students, horseback

riding offers many benefits such as improved muscle strength, balance, increased range of motion, and improved posture. Whether a rider's goals are confidence building, working on speech, strengthening the core, or some other goal, riding will certainly be a great benefit. Student’s work on posture, stretching, lengthening, working legs, arms & strengthening core muscles. PSYCHOLOGICAL BENEFITS

Psychological benefits include improved confidence & self-esteem, enhancing social relationships, and improving coping skills. Arena-based programs includes a horse / ranch orientation & instruction on: grooming, tacking, basic horse care, behavior around horses, controlling the horse, mounting / dismounting, & arena riding. Horses have an honest & unique way of teaching us about ourselves. Connecting with a horse on the ground is like working with a one ton mirror. Groundwork is based on the concept of trust, respect, communication, and self-awareness. Getting a horse to do what you want on the ground is much more difficult than getting them to do what you ask when sitting on their back. Working on the ground with a horse actually makes you both part of a team as opposed to the rider being dominate on the horses back.
