Not all dogs can handel the busy, loud and noisy shelter environment. To whoever can adopt this 1.5 yr old shut down girl, I will help you, if in the Tampa Bay area.

Last call for sweet scared Stella!!! She is on the euth list for 7-30-25

STELLA A2441038 is back at the shelter as a surrender. Stella came in previously as a petrified stray back in March, her name then was Sissy, she was completely shut down in March and had to be carried but allowed all handling. It’s obvious to us Stella is depressed again. Our heart breaks for these poor dogs that are failed over and over again. If you can help her please email

Stella is just 1 year and 4 months old, weighs 71lbs, and is already spayed. This sweet girl has had a tough start to life she’s never really been loved or understood. Right now, Stella is completely shut down in the shelter. The loud, overwhelming environment is just too much for her. She’s nervous and scared, making it hard for staff to walk her through the building, and she rarely makes it out of her kennel.
When Stella does get outside, she stays shut down too unsure to relax around people or dogs. She doesn’t have a clear play style and is selective in group settings. Her past hasn’t been easy she was adopted once before but returned when she struggled to get along with another dog in the home after becoming comfortable.

But Stella wants to trust. She wants to feel safe. She just needs someone who will give her the time, patience, and love she’s never had — someone who won’t give up on her.

No one has ever loved Stella the way she deserves. Please, be her hero.

06/30/25 16:37 Patient was brought to Vet Serives for a work up exam. Stella was waiting in her kennel upon approach with a relaxed body posture. Stella was very hesitant walking through doorways and would "pancake." Tech used vocal encouragements and Stella would follow the tech through the doorways. Stella allowed all handling for exam. Stella's nails were overgrown and due to PRC's case load, a nail trim was not attempted at this time. Recommend following up with primary vet and sent patient's animal ID to volunteer services for next nail trim day. Stella was returned to her kennel with no issues. JER

26-JUN-25 - Note - 06/26/25 15:20 Hello my name is Stella and I am being surrendered due to not getting along with the other dog in the home. I was in a home with two small children and did great with them and I am good with adults and I am more on the calmer laid back side, but I can be timid and nervous at first. I do love chewing on my toys and playing outside, I also love to stay close by my people and get anxious when they're away. I am great on the leash, good in fenced yards, good in the car, and I get nervous at the vets office. I would do best in a home with no other dogs-bc

Harley completed his Puppy Kindergarten course today!
This younster will be 5 months this weekend, and he is doing fabulous. When we work on Place with door bells/ knocks, his big brother (10 yrs young) wants to be part of the action. These two 😍 warm my ❤️

Today they put an electric collar on me to shut up, and you make me come back to you - no running - with a snap of your fingers.

Today they are mad at me because, for lack of sheep, I try to check bikes, cars, children in the house and everything in motion.

I'm pretty, I'm alert, I'm obedient, I stay in a bag...but I'm also an individual who, from centuries of training, needs to express my instincts, and I am *not* suited for the sedentary life you'd want me to lead.

Spending eight hours a day alone in the house or in the garden - with no work and no one to play or run with, seeing you for a short time in the evening when you get home, and only getting a small toilet walk will make me deeply unhappy.

I'll express it by barking all day, turning your yard into a minefield, doing my needs indoors, being unmanageable the rare times I'll find myself outside, and sometimes spending my days sunk, sad, lonely, and depressed, on my pillow.

You may think that I should be happy to be able to enjoy all this comfort while you go to work, but actually I’ll be exhausted and frustrated, because this is absolutely NOT what I'm meant to do, or what I need to be doing.
If you love me, if you've always dreamed of me, if my beautiful blue eyes or my athletic look make you want me, but you can't give me a real dog's life, a life that's really worth living according to my breed, and if you can't offer me the job that my genes are asking, DO NOT buy or adopt me!

If you like the way I look but aren't willing to accept my temperament, gifts, and traits derived from long genetic selection, and you think you can change them with only your good will, then DO NOT BUY OR ADOPT ME.

I’m a dog from the 21st century, yes, but deep inside me, the one who fought, the one who hunted, the one who pulled sleds, the one who guided and protected a herd still lives within.

So think **very** carefully before you choose your dog. And think about getting two, rather than one, so I won't be so very lonely waiting for you all day. Eight or ten hours is just a workday to you, but it's an eternity for me to be alone.

Ok, this is pretty funny, and I made a couple of new friends too! I arrive for my session with Angel, the English Setter mix, it is our 2nd session. The dogs are crazy at the front door!!! So Place and impulse control is our task. The grandmother has a 17 yr old and a 19 yr old Chi. I usually have all other dogs in a separate room, but both Chihuahuas wanted to participate and copied what we were doing. I was amazed and couldn't say no.
