Meet Dr. Yaz

Dr. Yazdan Aryazand (or Dr. Yaz, as he is known) is a foreign graduate, having obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in Iran prior to moving to the United States. Dr. Yaz completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Cornell University, where he spent a year doing research. He subsequently published an article on infection rate of TPLO surgery in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Yaz completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in New York, followed by a specialty surgery internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Texas. He completed a surgical residency at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital, after which he joined us at VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley in Woodland Hills, California.

Dr. Yaz has a keen interest in clinical research and is interested in all aspects of surgery, with a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, arthroscopy, interventional radiology) and fracture repair.

Dr. Yaz lives in LA with his wife (also a veterinarian), his sassy Jack Russell mix, Soren, and his sweet Yorkie, Azmoon (aka Azi). He is a professional chess player so you may find him competing in chess tournaments in his free time.

The addition of Dr. Yaz to our team allows VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley to offer surgical services. Dr. Yaz is on duty at VCA VSV each week Monday through Thursday. Call our hospital at 818) 883-8387 for further information or to make an appointment with our surgery department.

🚨💜🐶🐱💜🚨
VCA Charities is supporting Los Angeles Animal Services – in partnership with VCA – to cover the cost of adoption (not including license) for up to 250 dogs between Monday, June 27 & Friday, July 8. Every dog available for adoption is spayed/neutered, vaccinated & microchipped – all they need is a new family!

👉 Every new adopter will also receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate offering a free examination & up to $250 in veterinary care to cover any minor illnesses. 👈

Shelters in Los Angeles – & across the country – are FULL & need your help! If you've been thinking of adding to your family, this is a great time to adopt. If you're not ready for the commitment but can host a dog for a couple weeks, this is the best time to foster. If you can't take on a pet at this time, please spread the word... Los Angeles shelter pets need the spotlight right now. Foster or adoption will help ease the burden on the shelters, make room for new animals in need &, most importantly, provide a loving home to a deserving dog.

If you need help selecting a new best friend, volunteers or staff members at the shelters can assist. Visit laanimalservices.com for list of current adoptables.

Join us in supporting our community – and supporting the joy of pet ownership.
