“Listen” to your dog. When your pup refuses to take another step on a walk, it could be a sign that she's not feeling well. Heat could also be a factor. If your dog refuses to walk, take them home. In hot weather, limit time out to shorter stretches.

Where It All Started...

In 2004, Lesley Smith and Carol Brooks took the plunge from their busy careers and exchanged white-collars for dog collars. They noticed their career-focused friends were hiring dog walkers to help with “mid-day” breaks, but they wondered who was addressing the behavior and exercise needs of dogs relegated to long hours alone or with stay-at-home parents too busy or unable to provide their exercise needs. They talked to vets, behavior experts, fitness specialists, and attended a Cesar Milan seminar before diving headfirst into their new business focused on improving dog behavior and well-being. Enter: DogOn Fitness. Over the years, some of the services have evolved and the company has expanded to include 4 independently owned affiliates, but the goal is the same: to provide premium exercise services to dogs.
