Some of the hives have a contagious disease. Destroying the infected comb and brood stops it from spreading. It smelled like grilling burgers.

Beautiful cool afternoon inspecting bees. Surprisingly chill girls for this time of year.

Trial run to see if anything needs changed before the big extraction in a few weeks. A bearing at the top would be nice, but not urgent.

First box of honey frames from July 4th weekend. 17 gallons in total for the weekend, putting the year’s total to date around 40 gallons.

10 minutes after putting the escape board on. They are trying their hardest to figure out how to get back in, but can’t. This activity means there are no flowers that are better sources for them right now.
