It's an unfortunate reality that so very many of our canine companions suffer from both physical & psychological stress and/or fear: there are MANY possible reasons for these conditions. Just to name a few: anxiety (incl. separation), genetics, thunderstorms, fight, flight or freeze response, phobia, etc. Lack of socialization, touch reactive behavior, lack or self-confidence, fearful of people &

young & reckless with body and mouth are a few behavioral issues which would warrant massage therapy. Building a mutual & trusting relationship between massage therapist and canine, which incorporates relaxation, stress/anxiety/fear reduction, diffuse & distract techniques, settling exercises to teach pet parents, and so on. Massage therapy is also excellent for aiding in the reduction of pain, assisting the immune system in healing illnesses, returning the body back to "balance" as opposed to "imbalance", and is excellent for elderly and/or arthritic canines as well as post-surgical patients. I've seen the benefits of massage in humans for almost thirty years. The benefits to canines has opened a whole new world to me because I truly get to make a difference in these beautiful animals' lives as well as their owners, which makes it even that much better!! When I saw, right before my eyes, how massage (along with other resources) completely changed my rescued Pit, Jordan, who had been terribly abused, was full of fear, had fear aggression, no self-confidence, no socialization skills, wouldn't let me touch him and didn't trust anybody, (amongst other issues), my life was changed forever in a way I could have only dreamed of. He is the reason I became a Canine Massage Therapist & Behavior Modification Specialist! I would LOVE to pass the precious gift that Jordan gave to me, on to as many others as I possibly can :-))
