Adobe Animal Hospital opened in 1964 with one vet and a mission to serve the pets and owners that came through its doors. Now, we have two locations and more than thirty veterinarians as well as an extensive and able staff ready to assist you and your furry, feathered, amphibian, and reptilian companions. We offer our full service care and are available 24/7 for your pet emergencies at our primary

location in Los Altos, California, and proudly opened two additional facilities, Adobe South Bay and Adobe Veterinary Marketplace in Los Gatos, California, in March 2015. Our South Bay facilities in Los Gatos are open daily and Adobe Veterinary Marketplace includes all things necessary for your pets’ food and therapeutic needs. Avian Influenza has been reported in some areas of California. In order to keep your pets safe and healthy we suggest these lifestyle changes:

Keep cats indoors and away from backyard flocks, livestock and wild birds.

Do not feed raw diets which include freeze dried and raw treats as well as raw milk.

For families with backyard flocks wash and sanitize hands before and after handing birds, keep feeing and watering equipment from contact with wild animals including birds.

Prevent visitors from contacting your flock for the time being.

If you think one of your pets or flock has symptoms of Avian Influenza, please contact our office before coming in. We will give instructions on how to be seen and reduce the possibility of spreading the virus.

If you need to report sick birds in your flock or in the wild population, please call the USDA hotline 866-536-7593

Keeping your pet active during the colder months can be tricky, but maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for their overall wellness.
For our dog patients, we recommend indoor tug-of-war, indoor fetch, and interactive toys.
For our cat patients, additional cardboard boxes never hurt – along with laser pointers, birdwatch stations, and interactive toys.
What are some indoor activities your pet loves to engage with? Share with us in the comments!

Earlier this month, we had a visitor to our blood bank here at Adobe Animal Hospital Los Altos. Maggie Ruth stopped by to donate to our blood bank, so that future sick patients can get blood quickly if needed. We can't thank Maggie Ruth enough. ❤️

Routine physical exams are great for checking your pet’s heart, lungs, eyes, and ears, but what about their internal health?
Annual blood panels help us assess internal health including liver and kidney function, metabolic disease, and blood counts. Diagnostic tests provide valuable insight into changes in their health over time and allow us to identify illnesses early which can lead to faster treatment and often a better prognosis
💉 Schedule your pet’s wellness exam with us so we can run blood panels and help keep your pet healthy as can be!

With the holiday season in full effect, we know that there may be treats on your pet’s wish list. We also know that you are likely tired of the toothbrushing battle. Which is why we recommend dental treats!
Dental treats are a great way to reduce the severity of periodontal disease. We urge our pet parents to look for the VOHC Seal of Acceptance and to avoid hard treats such as synthetic or natural bones.

The holiday season is now in full swing, which brings excitement, but for male cats, it can also bring extra stress—and with it, a higher risk of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD).
If your cat seems to be urinating more frequently, straining, or showing signs of discomfort, it could be a sign of FLUTD.
Simple steps like creating a quiet, cozy space or using pheromone sprays, can help reduce stress.
Our clinic is here to help! We can provide a thorough review of your cat’s health and offer guidance on environmental changes to keep them calm. Contact us today!
