Avian Influenza has been reported in some areas of California. In order to keep your pets safe and healthy we suggest these lifestyle changes:
Keep cats indoors and away from backyard flocks, livestock and wild birds.
Do not feed raw diets which include freeze dried and raw treats as well as raw milk.
For families with backyard flocks wash and sanitize hands before and after handing birds, keep feeing and watering equipment from contact with wild animals including birds.
Prevent visitors from contacting your flock for the time being.
If you think one of your pets or flock has symptoms of Avian Influenza, please contact our office before coming in. We will give instructions on how to be seen and reduce the possibility of spreading the virus.
If you need to report sick birds in your flock or in the wild population, please call the USDA hotline 866-536-7593
