Motley Zoo Animal Rescue Motley Zoo is a fun, music themed, volunteer-run, foster-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit WA Animal Rescue

Our Mission Center Studio is in Downtown Redmond (on Cleveland St)- but this is not a traditional animal shelter. We are a foster based organization which means the animals live in foster homes and adoptions are done by appointment. You can apply to adopt by requesting an application at [email protected] and check out the adoption FAQs on our website. An approved application is required to mee

t an animal- however this way, you will only meet matches that suit you, rather than spending time looking at animals that won't! We also offer Rock Star Treatment Services which include: dog daycare, dog training, walking and other pet sitting options. Please see our "Dog Daycare and Services" tab on our website or email [email protected] for more. General inquiries should be addressed to [email protected] we'd be happy to help you find, train, and or care for a new furry friend!

We're feeling extra good this , and we wanted to share our happiness with everyone!

We are absolutely floored, humbled, ecstatic, unable to contain ourselves, thrilled to announce that we SURPASSED our Giving Tuesday goal, totaling more than $35,000 - THANKS TO OUR AMAZING ROCK STAR SUPPORTERS!

We're thankful to everyone who contributed, whether a dollar or a lot of dollars - because literally, every cent MATTERS. Your support makes a real difference to our animals, who entirely depend on your generosity. Without you, we'd be powerless to help all those vulnerable animals in need.

Collectively, y'all have spoken up for the animals in a big way - and our minds are blown by the results. High-fives, fist bumps, and hugs for everyone!🖐👊🤗 Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU! Rock on, Rescue on! 🖤🐶😺

Meet Hendrix! He is a fellow rescuer's dog (not MZ) so this is a COURTESY POST.

He seems like a great dog so we wanted to help out by sharing him with you in hopes he will get some new eyes on him!

This guy had been adopted in 2021, but suddenly the rescue got a call he'd been found as a stray in Alabama! They immediately made arrangements to get him back to the northwest where he is currently in a temporary foster home (an apartment with another dog). He is currently in the Portland area but the foster is willing to travel to find him the right family.

As you can see he loves water and fetch, and will certainly work his way up to "branch manager" if you let him!

He is good with other dogs (although dog parks are a bit too much which is common for many dogs), and people- including kids.

He is also house and crate trained, and knows a variety of commands including sit and wait- which comes in handy when putting on his leash!

He loves car rides and can be left alone at home or in the car...what is not to like, honestly?!

He's a great dog- but just one of many shepherd mixes seeking a home and getting lost in the thousands that seem to be out there right now. He'd be a great companion for a variety of adventures out and about and at home- scoop him up now.

For more info about him or to meet this special guy, please email brookevabooking @ gmail dot com for more.

We have just one more hour on this Giving Tuesday to reach our $30,000 goal—and we need your help!

Our final story is about sweet Michael Douglas, a senior boy who came to us in a state as desperate as a heist gone wrong in Ant-Man. This brave boy was emaciated and heartbreakingly heartworm positive—a dangerous combination that required the precision of Dr. Hank Pym to tackle.

Heartworm treatment isn’t just expensive; it’s as risky as shrinking down to the Quantum Realm. For a dog in Michael’s fragile condition, it had to be handled with the utmost care. Step by step, we reintroduced him to food—though his body initially struggled to keep up, Michael’s willpower was unstoppable. Slowly, he gained weight and reached the point where treatment could begin.

Like Scott Lang suiting up to save the day, Michael fought back with everything he had. In his foster home, he continued to grow stronger and healthier, ultimately defeating heartworm with resilience worthy of an Avenger. His foster, who supported him through every trial, said she couldn’t imagine life without him. Michael Douglas now has the happiest of endings.

We can help more dogs like Michael Douglas beat the odds with your support. So, suit up and be the hero these dogs need. With your donation, you’re part of the team saving lives—and that’s something even the Avengers would be proud of. Donate today for Giving Tuesday!

Hi everyone, Ryan Reynolds here. Yeah, I heard about some Wrexham-co-owning guy recently naming shelter animals Ryan Reynolds. Bold move, buddy. Guess he missed the memo that there’s already one of me. His loss, really.

Anyway, here’s my origin story: I was born in July 2020 with what some might call a face only a mother could love. Except, plot twist—my mom didn’t. She went full Joan Crawford on me and my siblings. But don’t worry—Blake Lively and I made it out alive (not that Blake Lively—stay with me). That’s how we landed at Motley Zoo, where they specialize in saving not just any puppies, but one-day-old, not-so-cute, special needs, bottle-fed, injury-prone puppies. Basically, the underdog’s underdog.

Blake, naturally, got adopted. Of course, she did. Me? I’m still here, holding down the fort at Motley Zoo four years later.

Why, you ask? Well, I have what some might call a vintage charm. I’ve got shaken baby syndrome, which means I might look like a dashing four-year-old, but mentally I’m more like four months old. I rock a permanent head tilt, which only adds to my “leading man with a mysterious past” vibe.

Here’s the deal: I’m charming. I’m debonair. People love me. After all I was crowned Sexiest Pup Alive. I enjoy barking at cars, chasing my tail, and, of course, being filmed looking ruggedly handsome while casually sipping sophisticated-sounding gin and cheering on a certain Welsh football team on my mobile phone.

Also—food. I love food. Did I mention food? And butt scratches. And walks. And food again.
Thanks to Motley Zoo, I’m living the high life with gourmet meals, a wardrobe of swanky sweaters, and toys that are totally tubular (yes, I’m bringing that phrase back).

But here’s the catch—they need your help to keep this level of luxury going. So, grab your wallets, your crypto, or your spare change, and donate this Giving Tuesday. Help Motley Zoo continue their mission of pampering VIPs like me.

And if that’s not motivation enough, just picture me in a tiny tuxedo, staring at you with my perfect head tilt. Irresistible, right? Go ahead—make my day.

Give today to help pups like Tito’s Limon con Chia live the long, full lives they deserve—and raise a toast to second chances!

Named after a cocktail recipe featuring Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Chia’s story began with a rough start. Her sick mother was abandoned in a park with her three tiny puppies. Thankfully, they were rescued just in time. Chia’s mom needed emergency surgery for severely infected mammaries, leaving her puppies to be bottle-fed.

While her mom and sisters quickly found their forever homes, Chia faced a tougher road. A severe heart murmur led to a diagnosis of pulmonary stenosis, requiring an $8,000 balloon angioplasty to save her life.

Motley Zoo provided the care and life-saving surgery Chia needed. Now, this loving pup is living her best life—enjoying every moment, just like a well-crafted Tito’s cocktail shared responsibly with good friends.

Motley Zoo couldn’t do it without support from animal lovers like you. Donate today to give pups like Chia the chance to celebrate life, love, and the joy of finding their forever homes. Cheers to making a difference this Giving Tuesday!

Alright, chimichangas and cuddles, people, buckle up! Here’s Deadpool’s GivingTuesday message:

“Hey there, you glorious humans with hearts bigger than my ego! Deadpool here—yes, THE Deadpool—and I’m here with my badass sisters.

Now, our origin story? Not exactly Marvel material. Our mom went all Game of Thrones on us, and let’s just say, bottle-feeding newborn pups wasn’t the spinoff she had in mind. But thanks to some round-the-clock human heroics, we survived. Barely. Yeah, we were the underdogs (literally).

Fast-forward three months: your donations fed us the Wagyu beef of puppy chow and covered our endless medical bills. Seriously, being a sickly puppy ain’t cheap—turns out, formula costs more than my monthly chimichanga stash. And as big-breed mystery pups (are we Shepherds? Retrievers? Chihuahuas in disguise?), we consume food like a 4th grader at a pizza buffet. Oh, and thanks to a donated DNA test, we’ll finally figure out which doggo ancestry site to blame for our quirks.

Here’s the deal: we’re thriving, but we’re still fragile, like my emotional state when Hugh Jackman won’t return my texts. Motley Zoo worked their tails off to save us, but they couldn’t have done it without YOU—the real heroes.

So, keep those capes on, folks, because we still need your help. Help us get stronger, healthier, and one step closer to finding those forever homes where we can binge-watch Bridgerton with our new families. Give today, because without you, this story doesn’t get its happily-ever-after.
Deadpool out. Mic drop.”

Meet Cardinal Clawpia! 🐾 This fluffy, playful boy is looking for a forever home without other pets. Born with Swimmer’s Syndrome, Clawpia has splayed back legs, but that doesn’t stop him from being active and full of love. He’ll need a committed owner to help with physical therapy and some special care, like low-sided litter boxes. Clawpia prefers a quiet, adult-only home where he’s the center of attention. Ready to give him the love and care he deserves? 💖

It is less than a month until Christmas, and if you're looking for that purr-fect gift for the cat lovers on your nice (or naughty!) lists, Motley Zoo's got you covered! Be the cool gift-giver that rocks rescue! 🤘😺

To order a rock-inspired feline shirt or hoodie, check out the Motley Zoo Black Label Collection in our merch shop: mzbehindtheseamz.com/collections/mz-black-label

As with all of our merch, each design goes to support the care of a specific animal that either is currently in our care, or has already been adopted. Proceeds from each design go directly to support vet bills, spay/neuter procedures, food, treats, etc. that each animal receives while in our foster care. Just because they might have already been adopted does not necessarily mean that their bills have been completely settled up. Rescue is hard work, and is expensive work, but we firmly believe that every animal deserves a second chance, and is worth more than the amount on a vet bill!
Rock on, Rescue on! 🤘🐾

Our Story

Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was founded in February of 2009. More than a decade later, we have rescued and rehomed more than 2,700 animals- primarily dogs and cats...but as the name “zoo” implies, we take all kinds...as long as we have a foster home available!

Fosters and volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We are a volunteer-run, foster- based rescue which operates virtually. This means volunteers from all different locations work together, online- many times not seeing each other for weeks or months- to find homes for animals. We have more than 150 volunteers- and about half them foster the animals directly.

We also run a 7,500 sq ft dog daycare and training center in Redmond called, Rock Star Treatment (www.rockstartreatment.org)- though please understand, THIS IS NOT A SHELTER! This is where we provide the community at large dog daycare and training- from which the excess proceeds benefit our rescue. While this is an expensive undertaking and is only a bonus to the bottom line, the facility allows us many opportunities most rescues don’t have.

Through a physical presence we have been able to centralize our operation, create a physical presence in the community- as well as have another location for events, meetings and classes. However, we did not switch structure to a shelter when we established the facility- we just expanded our capacity to connect with the animal loving community around us.
