I have posted many times about the large and deadly Cane toad (AKA Bufo toad). There are lots of them around this time of year (rainy season). If your pet encounters and interacts with a Cane toad the impacts will be almost immediate. They release a toxin, and if your dog tries to bite it or carry it, they can become sick and die in as little as 15 minutes without proper treatment.

This Cane toad was spotted near MacDill AFB today eating dog food. Please do not leave bowls of pet food and water outside. It is exactly what attracts them and could lead to your pet’s demise!

These toads have no place in our ecosystem and should be humanely destroyed. Just make sure to properly identify the toad, as many toads are harmless and beneficial. I posted a picture on how to identify them in the comments.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are full of dogs
Our shelter is past our capacity of care. If you or someone you know is missing a pet please go onto osceolacountypets.com and file a report and come to the shelter to look for your pet. If you are looking to add a new family member to your home we encourage you to come in and find your new best friend at our shelter. We have so many great dogs! Most of the dogs we have up for adoption are medium and large breed dogs. Adoption fee's this week are $20.
We are going through dog food very quickly as well, we purchase our dog food from Kissimmee Valley Feed or Tractor Supply. Attached is a photo of the dog food if you are able to purchase and help our shelter it would be greatly appreciated.
