🦉Wednesday-Wisdom: "Worth Your Weight In Salt"... everyday workers were once paid in salt. That's where we get the saying "worth your weight in salt" from. Before refrigeration, salt was our primary means of preserving food. Its value was immeasurable and in many instances, worth more than money.

Fast forward to recent years, and salt's reputation has taken a hit, but let me tell you that salt has historical significance in healing and health. From Hippocrates to ancient observations of animals seeking out salt, its benefits are undeniable. Hippocrates is said to perhaps be one of the first to promote the use of salt to soothe and heal, but I suspect long before Hippocrates, even cave man observed animals wallowing in salt, eating salt, and man followed suit.

It is a shame that today salt has such a bad reputation. Honestly, I can think of no better breakfast than one with good old salt cured country ham. And country cured ham biscuits… yum, yum good! Beats “city ham” any day.

Well, August 2024 is already here and as I shared a few days ago, I was pondering about how now and then we might say, "my goodness, today was a long day", but seldom do we say, "wow, that month lasted forever" (because they don't!)

Just as Labor Day does, in meteorological sense August signals the end of Summer even though September 22nd is the first official day of Autumn and while there will still be some heat waves, our "healthy" attention will naturally turn to the effects related to changes of the season.

Let me first say thank you for staying connected and welcome to all the new families that have recently connected with us. Thank you all for making August a great month for us and in the many different ways just as you always do. As I've shared before, this has been our 26th summer season of serving you and for that we are grateful.

As I review and do a checkup on how your summer 2024 has gone in keeping your companions thriving and comfortable, keep in mind that the solutions mentioned here as well as our other offerings are effective when provided proactively for your companions during this season and throughout the year no matter where you are and when. 🎯Targeted-2uesday: Natural Deworming with Worm Check & Bug Check...Whether its 30 years ago or during the final days of July 2024—when it comes to implementing a natural deworming protocol, it is always merely a matter of just remembering the truth, learning what to overlook, what to ignore and what to pay close attention to.

Years ago, I had been been told, you had (and still) been told that “all horses have worms”.

Likewise, we had/have been told that if you don’t deworm your horse(s) EVERY 2-3 months you are a “bad” horse owner, right? Well perhaps no one actually called you bad– but you WERE shown all those horrible pictures of all those horrible worms and informed of all those horrendous consequences.

We've all likely believed this at one time or another, heck even I once made this mistake just as many friends did as well— more or less we all succumbed to the incredible tactics of fear & guilt that is used in marketing to this day.
