Mission Statement: Ruff Tales Rescue (RTR) is a dog rescue operating in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island that is dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned dogs and redirecting them to stable, loving environments that serve as their forever home or the bridge to their forever home. Vision: We strive to be ambassadors for all breeds and to make excellent matches for our

fosters, adopters, and dogs. We also educate the community on the importance of responsible pet ownership and proper care. Who We Are
RTR is a 501c3 approved no-kill dog rescue based in New England. We rescue abandoned, abused and often neglected dogs from states with significant overpopulation issues and work tirelessly to place them in loving, responsible homes. RTR is committed to dogs of all ages, breeds and those who may have pre-existing medical conditions. We are not a shelter and do not have a brick and mortar facility. Instead, we rely on devoted foster families who open their hearts and homes to our dogs on a temporary basis. Foster families are the backbone of our lifesaving work and we support them in all aspects from medical care to training to supplies. RTR is a completely volunteer run organization. With no paid employees, our volunteers come together to make a difference in the lives of our dogs every day. Everything we are able to accomplish is attributable to the unending devotion and hard work of our volunteers.

I am a very silly, sweet, and affectionate boy! I love to play and get belly rubs. I have medium to low energy. When I'm not playing my favorite spot is right next to you of course. I love my people and am very loyal to them. Sometimes I need to be reminded the strangers are okay.

I'm not great at meeting random dogs on the street, but if introduced slowly and properly I am capable of socializing. I would prefer to be your only pet though. What can I say? My humans are my #1 and I want to be their #1 too!

I have been in rescue care for OVER TWO YEARS and cannot understand why no one has offered me a home to call my own. Please consider giving me the happily ever after I so badly deserve!

My name is R.J. and I'm from the Marshall Islands. My family came to Pocahontas, AR, for work and I ended up at the animal shelter. My family wasn't able to reclaim me, but they definitely took good care of me when I lived with them. My foster family saved me from the shelter on my last day in July when the shelter said they were going to kill me. I currently live with a Pit Bull mix and a Miniature Pinscher mix that I don't bother at all. In fact, they roll me over and play with me all of the time. I love sleeping in the big bed, but I will sleep in my kennel overnight as well. I will whine in my kennel at first, but then I realize I am safe. I have not been around kids or cats in my foster home, but I am sure my foster family can figure that out if need be. All they want is for me to find the perfect home.

The perfect home for me would be a family that gives me all of the love I deserve. Dog siblings would be great too. I would love to go on lots of walks and explore, because I am still learning.

Ruff Tales is completely run by volunteers and we can always use more help because as they say, many hands make light work 💪 Volunteer positions include:
🐾 Application Processing - help by calling personal references, vets, and landlords (if applicable). A form and guide is provided, this is not very time consuming but VERY important!
🐾 Events - help out at events to handle dogs, take pictures, or transport the dogs to and from the foster home. Events are held between MA, NH, and RI throughout the year.
🐾 Social Media - help create and post content on a regular basis to advertise adoptable dogs, upcoming events, and other information on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter

FREEDOM FOR HANK!! 🙌🐶

When our Transport Coordinator Madison arrived at her first pickup as a new volunteer, she wasn't sure what to anticipate. "I expected a little van to show up with a few dogs," she explains. Instead, a semi trailer pulled up with dozens of dogs, all headed from the south with multiple rescues waiting for them. For Madison, seeing this many dogs drove home the reality of rescue. She was heartbroken yet eager to help the dogs along this step of their journeys to adoption. Madison started transporting regularly, relishing in the opportunity to bond with a dog for an hour. She became invested in watching each dog's next steps, and the greatest reward was learning it had found its forever home. -- Can you spare some time to help a rescue dog get to the next stop in its journey? Ruff Tales Rescue is looking for transport volunteers! Our dogs arrive from the south in Johnston, RI on Saturdays. We need volunteers to drive them to Westport, MA, where they quarantine for 48 hours. Then on Mondays, we need volunteers to drive dogs from Westport to their foster homes. Puppies require multiple feedings per day and lots of vet care. MEET HAPPY - I’m a low key guy who likes to hang out and relax. Check out my VIDEO and see what a sweet guy I am! Name: Happy Breed: Lab mix Approximate Age: 9 years Approximate Weight: 52 lbs Sex: Male I lived most of my life on a sanctuary in Texas run by an elderly couple. I had lots of dog friends but not many humans came to see us so I am a bit shy when meeting new humans. My mom passed away and my dad had to go to a nursing home so all of us living there had to find new homes! I lived outside all my life but I am loving being an inside dog now! I just like to hang out on my dog bed and relax. I would do best in a low key home...I am learning that getting love is good, I even will come up to you for some pets sometimes! MEET DEXTER - I'm a smiling, playful, lovable boy... and a great swimmer too! Check out my VIDEO and see for yourself! Name: Dexter Breed: Boxer/Pit bull mix Approximate Age: 3.5 years Approximate Weight: 70 lbs Sex: Male I was rescued from the streets of Texas when I was 12 weeks old. My family loves me very much but me and their other dog have started to not get along and it has become a problem so they are finding me a new home. I was told I have fear based anxiety and need to be in an only pet home, with patience and training I could probably learn to live with another dog. Since separating from the other dog, I have been at peace and a whole new dog...I blame it on the other guy! I LOVE every adult I meet 10 and older - still weary of young children so best in a home without crazy kids! I have a lot of affection to give so I hope you enjoy kisses! I have great energy so I usually enjoy being outside playing fetch, hiking, jumping in (and eating) the snow in winter or swimming in the summer! Walks and car rides are a lot of fun as well. Be prepared to have a shadow because I love to follow you around, I just always want to be with you! At night I switch to snuggle mode! I love to cuddle on the couch with you and actually watch TV (sometimes barking at the animals on the tv). Pit bulls and Paroles is my favorite show. If you let me, I would sleep in bed with you too! I have a lot of personality and I’m very handsome. I am a very quick learner and food motivated so I keep trying to learn new tricks. So far I have sit, stay, down, paw(shake), come, leave it/drop it and stand. I also help protect your yard from critters as I have caught several snakes/rats/moths. I want to make sure you are safe! Meet BONES! This sweet boy doesn't need much. He is making improvements and is just looking for a loving family and doggy siblings to help bring him out of his shell. Name: Bones Breed: Hound mix Approximate Age: 4 years Approximate Weight: 50 lbs Sex: Male Special Requirements: Will only be adopted to a family that has another dog & a fenced in yard My foster mum says I have a sweet soul but I am a shy guy. Just looking for someone to trust who can pull me out of my shell. I get along with all dogs but I am only just figuring out how to play with them and interact, usually I’m on the sidelines but I am starting to enjoy running around and chasing the ball with them. My dog friends also give me confidence to trust the humans. Once I trust you, I like to cuddle and veg with you while watching TV. I am pretty chill all around and looking for a relaxed home. Nothing with too much action. Loud sounds can give me a spook so a quiet home with a fenced in backyard is definitely what I am looking for. I love being outside and seem very happy to be outside just roaming free. I don’t need much. Yard to roam. Comfy bed to sleep. Yogurt in my food. Ear massages. And a bit of patience.
