LOOKIE!!! Even with the bad luck fairy smacking us in the head over the past year, look at the work the pigs have done! They have successfully cleared more land in 2 years, than they can clear in 20 years with chemicals that make RoundUp look nice!
TLDR: Beyond experts, In Loving Swineness Sanctuary, a Grassroots pig rescue project, misses and desperately needs the community to keep cleaning up the community! Contact info at bottom, lol.
We have never been just about pigs, the environment, or about people, its about balance. Everything has been so out of balance, not just for us but everywhere. Feels like we were stuck in an out of balance wash machine on the spin cycle for the past while, but this article and the events that led to it reminded us what we need for balance. All creatures were created with a purpose, and when humans and animals work in concert with that purpose, we achieve balance. We need our community for us to have balance.
Maybe the reason our pigs are so great at tear up roots, is because In Loving Swineness Sanctuary was created as and always will be a grassroots project. We weren't created because someone saved up for a lifelong dream or created by government or corporate entities. The people of the Escambia and Santa Rosa Communities created us, grew us, and we will only continue to exist with the help of our community.
So much over the past few years has been painful and world changing it felt wrong to ask people in our community for more when everyone was going through so much. However, we need the communities help to change the world for the good by using pigs. We can get farmers back to farming quicker, clear water retention ponds and waterways, reduce chemical load in the soil while clearing out the forest floor of built-up debris leading to all these crazy wildfires while giving rescue pigs a purpose in our community. We can absolutely do this with pigs, but the pigs can't do it without the community. Even if all the immediate financial woes were met, we would still need community volunteers to help care for the pigs, ongoing community donors and sponsors, and most of all community voices.
We need voices to tell the county, state, and anyone who will listen that they want us to continue letting rescue pigs live their best life reclaiming land, clearing woods. Because there is no way we can move forward or even exist without support from our community.
We will only close if our community wants us to close, if our community supports us, we will happily keep going. We need our cheering section, along with our volunteer and donor section.
We will not be working with the Worldwide Mini Pig Alliance, or any other organization to close our doors. Instead, we are opening our doors, even though the house is a HUGE mess, and clean up on isle 9-99 is real. Helping us clean up, helps us clean up our community.
We need desperately need funds for neuters, state mandated blood work, feed and volunteers desperately.
If you want to volunteer to help clean up our land, or you want us to clean up your land.
