Almost 2 years ago Cider ruptured a tendon. Not knowing what her future held was always a tough pill to swallow. Today was her first time saddled and my first time to swing a leg over her. There are no feelings to describe this moment!!!

Love to see success stories like this:

Thank you Jordan Kelchlin for sharing yours!
Pacific Moonshine aka Cider came to Jordan as a rehab. Jordan has been successfully rehabbing Cider from a ruptured tendon and started her 30 days ago with Gleam & Gain Original 41, she has now added Augment to the regimen.
Cannot wait to see what another 30 days does for this filly.

8 months.... the longest 8 months it seems. I'm a single mom with a dream. A dream I had to rebuild after I sold my heart horse. A single mom who lost her passion for horses due to a toxic marriage and horrible divorce and ongoing custody case. This filly has been the biggest challenge and the best therapy. I didn't know how badly she and I needed each other. She needed someone to be there multiple times a day to help her heal. I needed a place where I could heal my soul. I didn't have unlimited funds to rehab her. I sold tack, traded tack, and did what I could to get her products that I believed in to get her on the road to recovery.

People have asked me what I used. I keep my care simple. From feed to routine. I have found that the fads come and go. The supplements I use and believe in are used because I've had the product knowledge training from the founders of these companies. They may not be as well known as some, but I see a bigger difference in my horses on them than I see people post about what they use.

In Cider's rehab I needed to keep her calm for 90 days of stall rest. Not the easiest thing to do with a weanling. I didn't want to pump feed into and make her hot and grow too fast either. So... her diet has been free choice bermuda hay and alfalfa pellets. I topped with Mushroom Matrix (Equine Matrix) ECP and MRM. ECP is a calming/focus supplement and MRM is a recovery supplement. Both are made with special blends of mushrooms and take the holistic approach to healing.

I also used PHT Magna CU products. The combination of powerful medical grade magnets and copper lined fabric helped the blood flow. Because Cider was small the magnetic blanket didn't fit. So, I draped it over her back and hips. Every night she got wrapped with PHT leg wraps to help prevent any hind leg issues.

Lastly, I put Cider back on Adeptus Nutrition products. She gets Gleam and Gain Original 41 to help pack on the crude fat so I don't have to keep pouring feed into with how fast she's growing. I also give her Augment which is vitamins and minerals.

I’m a little biased. She’s everything I could ask for. So many similarities to Duncan in the way she thinks and approaches things. The fact she isn’t a lunatic after all the stall rest and rehabbing we did. And most importantly, the fact she hasn’t pulled on my shoulder once while I’m still rehabbing it. I honestly cannot wait for her to be started under saddle and see where we go!!!

People are always asking about what other programs feed. Some have complex feeding routines, others have simple. There is no right answer. I feed Adeptus Nutrition to Cider.

Why? Well, it’s nutrition based on science. I feed this because I’ve had hands on training from the company that manufactures these supplements. I’ve seen first hand how they work on horses.

They smell good. They’re easily digestible for the horses. They love the taste.

Carsyn helps me make feed cups up. I wanted a way to make it easy if I’m ever not able to make it to the barn to feed. The condiment cups in 3oz size work great!

I will send out a small sample of either gleam and gain original 41 or Augment if you’re interested. Questions??? Message me! I can meet up locally too at OKC events if you want to see what I have or get a sample.

My Story

It’s been a journey. What I thought was my program took a huge dead end and dispersed. So... I’ve spent the last couple of years regrouping and thinking about what I really want in a horse. I knew I wanted a horse like Duncan (Dash Of Pacific). His mind, conformation, trainability, reliability. There wasn’t a thing I would’ve changed about him.

I had a mare, CS Roan Flurry. She’s a great mare. But, after a divorce and she was the horse I had left I lost my passion. It wasn’t fair to her. An opportunity presented itself and I jumped at the chance. Flurry went to a great home and I brought home a baby.

Our journey is just beginning and she is the foundation of Kelchlin Quarter Horses as it will be.
