I am not sure how I want to start this.... So I will start by saying.... Its been fun...
I have decided to retire. I have to many responsibilities at home, not enough time in a day and I have health issues that required Emergency life saving surgery recently. I cant keep up at this pace. With that said, I will be rehoming my dogs into other programs. A few into pet homes.
This was a very hard decision for me to make and it wasnt made easily... However, it is one of necessity. After this Surgery, it was made painfully clear, I need to slow down. I need to concentrate on my family and my own health.
I am still bed bound after my surgery and recovering but I will answer inquiries as I can. All dogs will be placed, other than a few retired pets.
I truly have enjoyed meeting everyone and watching as the pups grow. It was an honor to provide you all with these amazing, loving dogs. Enjoy them, love them and Thank you! Its been fun!
Everyone that has a deposit in, will be honored. We have 3 up coming litters due in a couple of months. These will be your last options. Please reach out asap. Thank you for your understanding.

We have made some difficult decisions in our program.
I keep cutting back but with my personal life and my responsibilities, I have discovered I just don't have the time and energy to keep up at the pace that I have been going.

Alittle insight..... In the last year, My husband and I have taken on family that was in need. With doing that, we have made our 6 person household into a 13 person household.
We have alot on our plate on a regular basis and cannot keep up at this pace any longer. As much as I love what I do and the people/connections I have made over all these years, we must do what's right for us and the dogs. So, we are offering some of our amazing dogs to other breeders programs and a couple to pet homes.
I will keep a minimal amount of dogs here that I feel I can manage, on top of my other responsibilities.
I love and appreciate all of you that already know and I am thankful for your support.
Everyone that has existing deposits on puppies, those will be fulfilled. Im not quitting, just slowing down alot.

We have had some mixed feelings over these past few days.
First, the devastating. 2 days ago, we had to say good bye to our sweet, stubborn and ornery Paige. She was my constant shadow and companion for so many years. She is loved and missed by all that knew her. I can't say enough about her. I just don't have the capacity right now to continue to talk about her right now.
Now with the happy.... we have welcomed 2 litters into the world. Both litters of 7. One litter is co owned and one is owned by us solely.
We are very happy to announce Shera and Banes gorgeous litter and Punpkin and Mobi's litter!!

This has been a very hard week for me... both full of heart ache and happiness.

Alright, let's get a bit personal for a minute.
We have had some serious life changes and due to those changes, we are going to make some seriously hard cuts to our program. We will still be breeding but need to make space for some other pets that were brought into our home.
We have taken on the role of care taker of my older brothers family and soon, my mother and my permenatly disabled younger brother. Due to this, we are having to sell our beautiful home and find a bigger place more suitable to our family now.
This is why some of my amazing dogs will be offered.

The Miniature American Shepherd has had several milestones since being recognized by AKC.

MASCUSA's Board of Directors is working to determine what is in the best interests of the Miniature American Shepherd moving forward with the Stud Books.

The MASCUSA Board of Directors met with AKC to ascertain what MASCUSA would be required to do if the MASCUSA Board of Directors determines to petition AKC to keep the Stud Books open.

One important note going forward if a request is made to keep the stud books open: AKC will not allow an Australian Shepherd to be within the first three generations.

Please be aware that the Stud Book has no effect on any dog that is currently registered with AKC as a Miniature American Shepherd with full recognition or in FSS. When the Stud Book closes any Miniature American Shepherd in FSS will stay in FSS.

The MASCUSA Board of Directors would like to hear from our members and get information how MASCUSA active members feel about the future of the Stud Book. It is important to note that this is an Informal Poll and not a membership vote. The MASCUSA Board of Directors will use this poll to determine what actions they may take in response to AKC’s current plan to close the Stud Book effective January 1, 2025.

This poll will open on 1/3/24 and remain open until 8:00 p.m. cst 1/17/24. This poll is only open to MASCUSA members in good standing as of December 31, 2023 and poll results will be verified. Copy and paste the link below to participate in the poll.

Most of our families and some breeders aren't aware that we have been debating and challenging some rules that have been put in place for our breed.
This rule would make it impossible to keep our breed healthy long term. When we breed, there must be diversity in bloodlines to ensure the overall health of our dogs and puppies.
We have been fighting a battle in the background to help make this happen.
I am very thankful to my fellow breeders that have worked day in and day out to provide this information to help AKC and MASCUSA make a knowledgeable and good decision regarding this issue.
We WANT and NEED the stud books to stay open to ensure that we have the time needed to bring in as many new lines as we can to make sure our beloved breed can continue to be healthy, thrive and continue to be what we know them to be.

Alright y'all, we have some precious babies and young adults available. These guys are outstanding and looking for their forever homes and laps to enjoy and keep warm. Some are ready to go home now and some still have 4-6 weeks until ready to go home. We have all size ranges and personalities.
