The Barock Pinto breed was created by crossing Friesians and Warmbloods such as the Gelderlander and Groningen, which provided the foundation for the creation of the Dutch Warmblood breed and almost went extinct because of it. The breed is also called Pinto-Barockpferd, Barock Pinto, Baroque Pinto, Friesian Pinto, and Pinto Friesian. At his keuring he received the highest score ever given to a foa
l in Denmark, a record he still holds. He is registered with ECHA-ESV in Germany and in the United States with the Friesian Sporthorse™ Association (FSA) in the Main Studbook. Picasso’s pedigree is very special as it contains no paint or stockhorse blood, only Friesians and Warmbloods. Picasso has mostly Friesians in his bloodlines. If you go back to the fifth generation of his pedigree, his Warmblood ancestors are a Gelderlander sire and Groningen sire. Picasso has the original lines used to create both the Barock Pinto and the Dutch Warmblood breeds in his pedigree. Picasso truly has the heart of a hero. He has faced death and fought to survive, overcoming unbelievable odds to give us a miracle at Christmas in 2009. Picasso is DNA tested heterozygous for Tobiano (which means he will throw color 50% of the time) and heterozygous for black.
