Please adopt or foster. The Shelter hates saying no to the community for taking animals in, but when there's no place to put them, they're simply is no place to put them.

Don't be mad at the Shelter be mad at the fact that the community does not come and get their animals when they're picked up from Animal Control.

Be angry that people don't spay and neuter their animals. Be angry that people would rather shop than adopt.

Please do your part and share this post on your page and in all your groups.

Help us help them.

Berkeley Animal Center is implementing an emergency moratorium on animal intakes due to severe overcrowding. Effective immediately, the shelter will only accept animals that are injured, in danger, or present a danger to others.

The Animal Center is critically overcapacity. The shelter is urging the community to consider fostering or adopting. Anyone who is missing an animal is also encouraged to visit Berkeley Animal Center to see if the animal is in the shelter’s care. Reclaim fees will be waived until further notice.

Berkeley Animal Center is offering reduced adoption fees. Puppies are $100 and adult dogs are $25. Kittens and adult cats are $25.

“We are in an emergency, and we need the community’s help now more than ever. We are urging those who have never fostered or adopted to consider opening their homes and hearts to an animal in need.” – Heather McDowell, Berkeley Animal Center Executive Director

Anyone interested in adopting or fostering can stop by the shelter at 131 Central Berkeley Drive in Moncks Corner. Fosters will be provided all necessary food and supplies for animal care. For more information, visit www.berkeleyanimalcenter.org.

Morty is a resplendent, black kitten with radiant golden eyes that shine like beacons of promise.

Morty is a dynamic and intrepid explorer, always eager to discover new marvels and wonders.

He is also a self-assured and fearless individual, thriving on solo playtime with toys and exploring his surroundings with unbridled passion.

Our purpose

About The Friends of Berkeley Animal Center

Friends of Berkeley Animal Center is a 501(c)(3) created by animal loving volunteers to support the Berkeley Animal Center. The employees and volunteers of the Berkeley Animal Center are passionate about the care and well-being of animals and we are passionate about helping them to provide it. In the tradition of “friends of” groups, we stepped up to the challenge of supporting their efforts to find homes for the abandoned and surrendered animals of Berkeley County.

Only by bringing together hardworking volunteers, a caring community, and generous donors are we able to accomplish our goals. We work hard to raise funds, organize events, grow volunteerism, promote public education, and encourage community and business involvement for the benefit of the growing homeless animal population of Berkeley County, SC.

Our biggest dream is to fund the building of a modern facility. One that can meet the demands of the increase in animal needs that Berkeley County has seen with it’s ever-growing people population. We closely coordinate with the staff of the Berkeley Animal Center to understand their needs, so they can focus on the daily care and adoption of these defenseless animals who so desperately just want help and homes. Together we are a winning team!
