South County Animal Rescue was established to provide rescue and assistance for domestic animals. This is Ozzy.

Ozzy was saved by our tails program. He came into the shelter as a stray and was soon slated for euthanasia due to the kennel stress he was experiencing. The shelter's rescue coordinator knew he was a great little guy who just needed time to decompress and get it together.

Thankfully our TAILS team jumped in immediately to help this sweet boy!

After being in the TAILS K9 Rescue Training Academy, Ozzy is now ready to find his forever home. He knows all his basic commands and would love to have a fur sibling to romp and wrestle with!!

Good morning from Roscoe and Dusty!

Roscoe came to us from Gonzales, where he was found on the side of the road with a severe eye infection that has impaired his sight. However, he has never let his limited sight slow him down. He loves to run and play, and watching him you would not know that he has trouble with his depth perception! He loves to play, but is also a lovable cuddle buddy.

Dusty came a few days later into his foster home from King City. He had skin infections and was very thin. He and Roscoe bonded immediately. Dusty, with love and cuddles, has become a beautiful loving kitten. He is very affectionate and has a fascination with boxes.

We would love for them to be adopted together! Come see them at the PetSmart Adoption Center today!

It's a walk-up clinic, you'll park your car and walk up to the line with your pet. No appointment is necessary as it's a first-come, first-served basis.

We've been working together for years and we are grateful for our growing partnership. Together, we are saving lives.

We have each other on speed dial! Some weeks we are in contact daily, arranging rescue for the animals in greatest need. Everyone at HRAS is the most compassionate animal lover you could ever meet. Monterey County is lucky to have you. Thank you for all you do.

🐾 Meet Belle 🐾

She is a 2 and 1/2 year old Chihuahua Mix. She knows basic commands. She listens great. She walks well on a leash and does well with other dogs and gets along with cats. She is a velcro dog, likes to be close to her person. Belle is potty trained and has mastered the doggie door! She is quite food-motivated too. She respects her foster siblings and wants to be around them and humans at all times.

Belle is little, weighing about 15lbs. She's fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for her forever home! 🏡
