Do you like long walks in the park? I do. I'm very shy at first but a couple of snacks from a human and we are instantly best friends forever! I'm not too sure of strangers, so if you like to just be home and relax .. I'd love to join you! I am a cuddler but not the clingy type! I'm also very good about being home alone, just like a cat, but waaaaaay cuter and I can protect our house with my bark! Ok, I did my part. I told you about me. Now do yours, fill out the adoption application, and request to meet up!

Meet Scooter! 🐾

Scooter is a little sweetheart who’s just over a year old and ready to find his forever home!

This handsome guy may be a bit shy at first, but he warms up quickly to both people and other animals. Once he feels comfortable, his playful, affectionate side shines through. Scooter loves his toys, enjoys lying in the sun, and is always up for a good cuddle session on the couch.

He’s a snuggler at heart, but he prefers to keep all four paws on the ground—he doesn’t like being picked up or carried. Scooter would thrive in a home that gives him the space to build trust at his own pace, along with plenty of love, playtime, and cozy spots to nap.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your days with sunshine, Scooter might be the perfect match for you!

Your support and contributions are very much appreciated! Our high school volunteers were amazing! We couldn't keep doing our rescue work without you!

All proceeds raised from this Goodwill Donation Drive will support two worthy causes. Rescue animals at SCAR will have a new lease on life with all veterinary needs met. Our partners at will have the chance to create more jobs and provide workforce development opportunities for many in our community.

A shy and sweet 5-month-old kitty, Archie is ready for his forever home. He might take his sweet time to warm up to you but once you've gained his trust he is the best cozy cuddle buddy ever! 🐈

Visit Archie at PetSmart in Salinas any time during store hours.

Adopting at SCAR is easy:
1. Fill out our adoption application online
2. Arrange to meet with our volunteer adoption coordinator
3. Pay the adoption fee of $150
4. Take your new pet home in a safe crate!

This is Ace! 🐾

Sweet little Ace has been in our care for a year. He was adopted and returned due to no fault of his own.

Ace is a great little guy! He LOVES his foster home at Dogwood Ranch and the entire staff, but would truly love a home of his own. Ace has done great with other dogs and doesn't mind cats. He can be a little shy when meeting new people but we pinky promise that if just given a little time, a chance to warm up you will see what a great little guy he is!
