Turtle Drums

Turtle Drums I make sacred frame drums and rattles with spirit and intention from animal hides, wood and natural materials. Each one is unique in its song and energy.

I'm pleased to offer shamanic, Native American style frame drums for sale or trade. I've found that I have a gift in birthing them, and I've been called to make these spiritual tools available to others. I use prayer, intention, and the power of various crystals to empower my drums to bring a needed voice to the world. By creating a sacred space in which to do this work, I find peace in the proces

s and great joy in the completion.I generally have a few drums on hand, or I can work with you to call in any specific energy you may desire in your own drum. If you're interested in more information, please send me a personal message on FB with questions. Thank you.

I went to Albany this past weekend and had a wonderful time. I made some social media content (a first for me). Thanks, Kelly M. Ballard / Medium & Energy Healer, it’ll be fun to see. I like Albany – I stay in an old neighborhood adjacent to the Empire Plaza; there’s lots of brownstone Airbnb places, and Lark Street takes care of all my needs so I only need to drive to do the work at hand. This trip it meant to Colonie and Troy. (Extra bonus – I get to see my oldest niece who lives there.) Being a trader, I’m mindful of Albany’s history as an early trading post. So it thrills me I can find a drum from a great plains tribe and some deer antlers from much closer by. These will become rattle handles, I suspect.

Over the last ten years, we’ve put over 360 drums out into the world. Between sales, workshops and gifts, there’s Turtle Drums on four continents including coast to coast here in the US. I’m honored and blessed to share this work with you. And I’m excited to do more, so if you want info on buying or making your own, let me know. Thank you for all the support over the years. 🙏 ❤️

Here's a pair of smudge fans I finished up last week. Grouse wings, one on a piece of root I've been dragging around for probably 20 years (I found it even before I was making this kind of stuff), and one on a bit of deer antler. The second one comes with a cedar stand. I'm keeping the one with the root, and the other I am giving someone right of first refusal on. So it may be for sale at the Vermont Holiday Market in Essex Jct Dec 7 and 8.

I’ve been prototyping and developing this systrum inspired project for quite a while. At this point its beer bottle caps on wire with walnut sticks and deer antlers for the handle. We’re not there yet, but they’re going to be good.

Down in Albany, NY for the weekend. Nine women made 10 rattles today, and they knocked it out of the park!! I showed up with rattle blanks along with an assortment of filling and trim material. This was a fun day for all!

Our Story

I have found that I have a gift in birthing drums, and I've been called to make these spiritual tools available to others. My drums have found their way around the world, including to four continents, Standing Rock, and to shamans in the Ecuadorian Highlands.

My call to drumming reaches back to my earliest childhood memories and continues to renew itself. My work with Vermont Druids, Ecuadorian Shamans, and lessons drawn from numerous workshops and readings over the years influence the ceremony that goes into the birthing of these drums.

I have studied clairvoyance, spirit communication, and the healing powers of crystals. I employ these skills to empower my drums to bring a needed voice to the world. Each one is unique in its song and energy. By creating a sacred space in which to do this work, I find peace in the process and great joy in the completion.

I generally have a few drums on hand, or I can work with you to call in any specific energy you’re looking for in your own custom drum. I have access to a wide range of frame type and size, as well as various skins for the head. In addition to making drums, I make rattles and run drum-making workshops, both individual and group, within a reasonable travel distance from Burlington, VT. If you're interested in more information, please send me a personal message on FB with questions.
