Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you want to “get to know your puppy” before training. Get them in as soon as possible to eliminate bad behavior and disobedience before it starts. You never get a second chance to make a first impression and that initial interaction can make a dramatic difference in how your dog responds to you.
I certainly understand the temptation to want to build a rapport with your dog but a rapport can be built while still maintaining a high standard of behavior and obedience.
Just Remy hanging out with a few of my kids. 💘
My initial impressions are that Tigger is a great dog. I’ll post more about him in the coming week. Share for anyone who might be interested in adopting this guy.
Remy had her 11th birthday this month! She has been my assistant dogtor for over 10 years. She’s helped me distract and train thousands of dogs. I’ve been fortunate enough that she’s had very few health problems over the years and she keeps going strong! Happy birthday Remy! Sadie is the other dog in this video. She went home to her family this afternoon.
Daisy, a black German Shepherd begins her training. I had to pick her up because her owner can’t drive without her prescription glasses that Daisy ATE! 🤦♂️
One of my New Year’s resolutions is to share more stories of the people and dogs I’m helping. Situations like this have just become part of my every waking moment in life and I’ve grown accustomed to doing it without anyone really knowing just how often it happens. I haven’t shared even 1% of the families I’ve helped and I rarely ask for reviews or praises. The only reason I share any of these stories is so that people know that there is hope for anyone who may be struggling with their dog. Thor is another example of a rescue I’ve trained - and this is a small part of his story.
Get those puppies in as soon as possible and skip the puppy remorse stage! Having a puppy is one of the most enjoyable stages of life and most people don’t get to enjoy it because their puppy is too busy being a punk and not listening. If you’re going to spend thousands on buying a puppy, don’t skimp out on training. But don’t use just any training program, use mine!
That time I rescued a dog who was “too wild” to control. Before I rescued her, Gabby was rehomed on 3 separate occasions for a variety of behavioral and obedience issues. But within 3 months, Gabby had full off leash control in front of 40,000 people and a giant bird!
Your dog could do it, too.
12 week old Bear is the first to go home in 2024! (His name is bear, he’s not an actual bear - I don’t think.)
Another peak at the new kennels.
I (purposefully) made a small but fairly important mistake here. Can you spot the mistake? What is it? What would this mistake cost me in the long run? What should I have done differently?
The dog in this video is Teddy, by the way! He’s a Pitbull Aussie Chow mix!
This is just an example of how over-communication can create unwanted excitement. Talking with your dog can be helpful, to each your dog that you want them to communicate with you. However, if used too much or incorrectly, you may create a dog with a lot of energy that you can’t control. In this case, asking your dog to go to the bathroom is a great way to get them to communicate when they need to go. While speaking to your dog can be a valuable tool - and it’s great fun, be mindful that you’re not getting your dog too excited when they shouldn’t be.
Examples of improper over-communication would be: “Do you want to go for a walk?!” “Who is that at the door? Is that Grandma!?” “Where’s the kitty?”
Share this with someone who may have an overly-excitable dog!
Train your dogs (with Dogtor Lee approved methods only) as early as possible. Your life, your dog’s life, and everyone in the circle surrounding your lives will be more enjoyable. Don’t waste your time with other training methods. Just use my methods and have a dog who listens, is well behaved, safer, friendlier, and more fun to be around! In just a week, you can enjoy the good parts of the puppy stage without all the bad parts.
How to fix mouthiness in just minutes or less!
“The Dogtor will see you now… 😏.”
Have I found my new catch phrase? “The Dogtor will see you now!”
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again… we need more kids…
Before training, Cleo (Neapolitan Mastiff) would charge and attack her older brother Riley (German Shepherd). After being told to surrender Cleo, her owners found me. Less than a week home from my program and the results are already happening. My program will produce instant - positive - useful - results that give you hope and encouragement to build on. Although training takes work - and there may be some guided struggles along the way - you’ll be enjoying the positive changes right away! It’s less effort and more enjoyable than the stress you may be currently living through every day. If you’re on the fence about training with me - just do it! 💪🫵👏
