Remy had her 11th birthday this month! She has been my assistant dogtor for over 10 years. She’s helped me distract and train thousands of dogs. I’ve been fortunate enough that she’s had very few health problems over the years and she keeps going strong! Happy birthday Remy! Sadie is the other dog in this video. She went home to her family this afternoon.

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to share more stories of the people and dogs I’m helping. Situations like this have just become part of my every waking moment in life and I’ve grown accustomed to doing it without anyone really knowing just how often it happens. I haven’t shared even 1% of the families I’ve helped and I rarely ask for reviews or praises. The only reason I share any of these stories is so that people know that there is hope for anyone who may be struggling with their dog. Thor is another example of a rescue I’ve trained - and this is a small part of his story.

Get those puppies in as soon as possible and skip the puppy remorse stage! Having a puppy is one of the most enjoyable stages of life and most people don’t get to enjoy it because their puppy is too busy being a punk and not listening. If you’re going to spend thousands on buying a puppy, don’t skimp out on training. But don’t use just any training program, use mine!

That time I rescued a dog who was “too wild” to control. Before I rescued her, Gabby was rehomed on 3 separate occasions for a variety of behavioral and obedience issues. But within 3 months, Gabby had full off leash control in front of 40,000 people and a giant bird!

This is just an example of how over-communication can create unwanted excitement. Talking with your dog can be helpful, to each your dog that you want them to communicate with you. However, if used too much or incorrectly, you may create a dog with a lot of energy that you can’t control. In this case, asking your dog to go to the bathroom is a great way to get them to communicate when they need to go. While speaking to your dog can be a valuable tool - and it’s great fun, be mindful that you’re not getting your dog too excited when they shouldn’t be.

Examples of improper over-communication would be: “Do you want to go for a walk?!” “Who is that at the door? Is that Grandma!?” “Where’s the kitty?”
