What’s the number one thing your dog does that you wish they didn’t do?

We joined couple other local trainers and did a fun agility day for ourselves and clients. I did it with my little girl, Okami of Granite Mountain and even though we did not get a podem spot we were very close and had lots of laughs and a good time.

Anyone that knows this spicy nugget knows she can’t just slow down and proccess things it’s a whole lot of slamming thru it till it works. She maybe small but she is very determined nugget!!

Another agility contest will be in December stay tune to hear more!!

Day school!! Enroll Today!!

What is it?

Day school is where your dog spend about 4 hours with us while you are running errands or at work and we help you socialize your dog, work on obidience and behavioral issues.

We do this by taking 3-4 dogs at a time and work on them together and separate. They go to parks, field trips to north 40, Lowe’s, or Home Depot. We work on manners to strangers, strange dogs, and much more.

We went to a competition over this last weekend and we did not come home with an award but we did come home very proud of ourselves and our team. I took two of my dogs and did obidience, detection and agility.

The detection was not your everyday search nor was the obstacles. You really had to think out of the box and I loved it!!! I highly believe competitions and hard stuff like this help you think more and more out of the box and help you and your dogs grow as a team. I will definitely be back to this competition for the next time.

Note I also did all this with just recovering from Covid, badly bruised shoulder and two fractured ribs. Normally I feel we could have done better but for what I had going on I think we did awesome and I shaked off the pain when I needed to focus.

It’s been a while since we posted.

What have we been up to? Well let’s see….

We have successfully finished a second year of live work searching for bombs and narcotics at the local PNW amphitheaters. This including a big narcotic find for one of our special boys!!!

Been training two puppies as service dogs, one as my new personal service dog and the other will be more spoke of here soon.

We went to Las Vegas for the first time ever. For our first competition and came home with second place in firearm detection!!! Our team AK9 K9 Unit took best team for fi****ms as well!!! And another AK9 member took 3rd place!!!

We have another competition this weekend!!!! Wish us luck!!!!

Also:
Have we have signed up for three new classes!!

1st and main one is to become an canine athlete specialist. This is almost like physical therapy for dogs that are active working k9s that are like police or high sports dogs to help avoid potential injuries and keep them as healthy as possible. Or also dogs with injuries and need help healing including your happy pet dogs. Upon completion we will have 4 certificates and Diploma from university of Colorado.

Next classes we signed up for is Hollistic healing and health for animals. As much as we believe vets have a huge role in our pets life. There is a lot of natural things you can do at home to keep your pet happy and healthy as well. We are hoping to learn thru this class what minerals and natural vitamins can help our canines stay healthy and top notch. What combinations work best and much more.

Fun fact: did you know there are a lot of
Vitamins and mineral things out there for our pups that does not actually help our dogs like they should.

Third we are taking some great advanced training classes for dog trainers in protection training, detection and much more!!

We have been gone this week busting our butts and proving our training pays off once again!

This is our second conference with ASCTI and we hit hard with many certifications. Last year it was just Recon and I.

This year it was Recon, Kesta, Avi and myself!! Call me crazy but we did it.

Right before the conference I finished Kesta in Explosive detection and received my certification for buildings. From first day of the conference Recon, Avi and I got checked off on our certifications every single day. Last day of the conference Kesta and I blew the doors off and got certification for car searches for Explosives.

Nine Realms Canine Training and I had a bet on who could certify an explosive dog first between two dogs that are full sisters from the same litter. I won the bet but to be fair Kesta and I had more time together to build a foundation on her detection before Nine Realms even started with the sister. Sister did put up a strong battle for us too!!!

To Finish a hard week of sweat and hard work comes the northern lights. The strongest they have been for like 20 years or more! So amazing!!!!!

ASCTI conferences are so much hard work but also so much enjoyment!!! I love meeting other members and working along side them and seeing new or different things. Hearing difficult stories but also the mind blowing stories and even the hilarious ones.

Thank you to all the ASCTI members that help me and my dogs grow and congratulations to all the new members on the certifications this last week!! Huge shout to Karin with Nine Realms for all the guidance and the friendly competition.
