Love me some black kitty cats!!!

GIVE US A MOMENT before lecturing us about how we are endangering black cats by promoting their adoption close to Halloween: There is no factual basis for the myth that legions of animal abusers are looking for black cats to torture for Halloween, according to animal experts from Alley Cat Allies (www.alleycat.org/how-to-really-protect-black-cats-on-halloween-and-every-day/) to Best Friends Animal Society (https://bestfriends.org/stories/julie-castle-blog/myth-buster-adopting-black-cats-halloween).

What DOES put cats of all colors at risk at any time of the year is getting thrown outside to fend against predators of all species or getting stuck in overly full shelters. Although Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control has not been forced to euthanize adoptable cats solely for space for many years, it currently is extremely full, with more than 100 adoptable cats in its care, plus many more underage kittens still in foster homes. So please come to the shelter and take a look. Like the smitten woman below, you just might fall in love.

10/23 update: Olympic and Miles McMeowface were adopted today and Minecraft was reclaimed. Othello was adopted previously.

Calling all 🐇 🐰 bunny owners!! Did you know rabbits often need nail trims as well? I'm here to help!

Pet rabbits need their nails trimmed regularly.

Why it's important: Rabbits' nails grow continuously, and if they aren't worn down naturally, they can become too long and cause problems.

Injuries: Long nails can catch on things and cause injuries.

Pain: Nails that grow too long can become painful and grow into the footpad.

Movement: Short nails allow for easier movement.

How often to trim: Most pet rabbits need their nails trimmed every 4-6 weeks.
