More people ask me about Hot Spots on their dogs than any other thing... so here ya go:
Hot spots are hairless and inflamed spots on your dog...they are usually itchy and angry looking.
Most causes are simple...
The number one cause is FLEAS. A lot of doggies and kitties have allergies to fleas...and even if they don't,,,they itch!! I use a topical liquid all in one that I get from Pets Of Oz... Advocate. It gets all parasites, heartworms, mange...most skin problems!!
Number 2 is food or grass allergy. Read the ingredients of your food... NO CORN!! NO MEAT BY PRODUCT...NO ANIMAL DIGEST. Come on people.... animal digest means p**p!! OK??!! I feed 4health from Tractor Supply... Great food and is cheaper than most of the high quality foods.
When you have these things, fleas and allergies on board, the dog will scratch and irritate the skin...even cause an infection. Now you have bacteria and even yeast on the skin in the way and it really drives your dog crazy!! Don't spray it with things that sting!!! That will make you dog even more miserable!!!
This brings me to Number 3... Sometimes your dog may have a pain where they are chewing and scratching... Joint pain, ligament pain etc... You might want to check that out if you know that fleas and food aren't your problem.
Number 4 is pressure points. This means prolonged pressure on a certain place...like elbows or hip bones... If you have a senior, a large b***d doggie, etc... they may put lots of pressure on places when they are sleeping and lounging... make sure you have a padded surface for them to ease these pressure points... DOGGIE BED.

Giant breeds like Great Danes are at higher risk for gastric dilation and volvulus, or bloat. This is a life-threatening condition that develops when the stomach fills up with gas and then twists, trapping food and gas in the stomach. If you notice your dog pacing, panting, and drooling excessively right after eating, call the vet right away. Bloat can be corrected with surgery, but it can be fatal if not treated quickly.
This is the reason I have decided to have all my dane's tummies tacked (gastropexy) where the tummy is tacked to the muscle where it can't flip over on it's self. Not only will this prevent the truly life threatening stomach twisting from occurring, it also appears to reduce the instance of just bloat.
Just something for parents of giant breeds, deep chested breeds to think about.

and despite all they have suffered they don't smell a grudge....

“To love a rescuer you must love all of her. You must love the scars covering her body from panicked and hurt animals she was trying to help. You must love her fractured heart, that has been broken so many times she no longer even takes the time to mend the pieces.

To love a rescuer, you must embrace her grit and determination, and know that although she fights a war she can never win, she can and does win a few battles. You must love the tears she will shed over those she lost. You must give her comfort that she refuses to accept, as she blames herself for things she could have never foreseen.

To love a rescuer you must acknowledge the rage she feels towards the world at times, and know that anger is driven by a love of life too few have. You must give her space and room to cry and mourn for the losses that others have caused out of carelessness or cruelty.

To love a rescuer you must understand her passion to heal and save is a calling, not a choice. You must accept that to save animals is part of her soul and without that she could never be happy.

To love a rescuer you must be patient. You must accept her work comes first. She will forgo sleep, forgo food, forgo her life for animals in need. She will work tirelessly until her body and mind fail her completely and she cannot go on.

To Love a rescuer, you must be strong. You must not be threatened by her focus and love of animals. You must accept that the things you love about her, the strength and convictions and loyalty are also what drives her sense of duty to animals in need; you cannot have one without the other.

To love a rescuer you must never ask her to choose, because she will, and it will not be you. “

When you see something like this, don't be afraid, don't call the firefighters or the police, don't move and don't kill them...
These are just bees traveling and stopping for just 24 hours.
Don't disturb them and avoid getting close to them, they won't hurt you.
If you want to help, put a flat plate or tray with some sugar water and a few small rocks.
Bees will eat, gain energy and fly away.
We all need to protect migratory bees, they are our survival insurance.
Without bees, there will be no humans on earth... 🐝🧡
