In this class you’ll see dogs holding place while answering the door, meeting and passing other dogs appropriately, coming when called, ignoring food on the floor, etc!

We are so proud of this team! They attended multiple private lessons, group classes, passed multiple different levels of AKC testing and conquered the Therapy Dog test!

This comprehensive course covers essential topics, including: building engagement with your dog around distractions, sit, down, stay, door manners, place, coming when called, leash walking, and meeting other dogs and people appropriately.

We are booked out straight from sun up to sun down. We book atleast a month out at a time. Any gaps in our schedule are for going to the bathroom or scarfing food down! At most I’m getting 5 minutes here and there. I know dog trainers aren’t the only one who get asked this ALL the time. “Can you just see us during your lunch? After hours? We will come early in the morning?” No. Don’t be that client 😘

Our Story

Mountainside K9 offers professional private and group dog training as well as board and trains, dog walking and pet sitting to St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis County areas.

Michaela grew up with large dogs from Shepherd crosses to Siberian Huskies in the Adirondack Region. She constantly was teaching them how to do new things such as tricks or pulling sleds and skis. Moving to the Rochester Area in August of 2014, she obtained her Veterinary Technology degree from Medaille College and as well became a certified dog trainer through Penn Foster. Michaela firmly believes that schooling and “becoming certified” is one thing, but experience and putting yourself to the test is another. She applies that to all of her clients and dogs as well.

“You can go through and graduate as many obedience classes as you want, but having a dog apply those behaviors in the real world is the ultimate reward”.

While in Rochester Michaela was involved with many different working K9 clubs which is where her knowledge and passion really blossomed.

Moving back to Northern NY in 2017 she started Mountainside K9 to share her knowledge.

Teaching and helping others is what she loves to do. Having a well rounded dog that is ready to take on the world is a rare breed because we tend to use the excuse of “that is just how they are”. We can take that “ it is just how they are” and use it to our advantage, creating habits that will better both the owner and the dog.

When not working with you or your dog she is either working at a local Veterinary Hospital, hiking, enjoying the outdoors, training her dogs or Obstacle Course Racing. Michaela has a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Bindi and a working line German Shepherd named Caius.

Michaela is involved in numerous dog sports such as Agility, Barn Hunt, Rally-O, Obedience, Dock Diving, IPO and many more. Training for and competing in these events is how she spends most of her weekends and free time.
