One week ago, Ross was SO sick and spent the day hospitalized as we worked to get his body temperature and other vitals normalized. FIP was winning. We’re thrilled to announce they thanks to our amazing team of doctors, colleagues, and modern medicine; Ross is doing GREAT. We’re still a long way from healthy, but small steps matter in the FIP journey.

Please keep sending those prayers, good juju, healing energy his way. They’re WORKING.

We have a hefty bill to pay- FIP treatment isn’t cheap. Please contribute if you can and please share. And don’t forget to check out our “Ross Raffle” by clicking the link below.

Meet Chowder.

Chowder was surrendered minutes after the other urinary cat we took this week, Hero was surrendered.

They say issues come in waves, and apparently we’re in a wave of urinary issues. 😳

His family surrendered him because he had “been peeing blood.” Immediately after telling our volunteer this over the phone, they asked if we could take him Monday because they “have a busy weekend.”

Ummm.

So Chowder is now at the vet hospital. He is only 3.5 years old.

Did you know that most urinary issues can be helped significantly with a wet food only diet? Which he was not on. 🤦‍♀️

So now we have another cat without a single normal urination in the last 24 hours that has to fight through pain meds and supplements to get him on the right level. More details to come.

Tippy was rescued from the street by a good samaritan. He is a gentle, friendly boy looking for a home to love him. Tippy gets along fine with other cats, but wouldn’t appreciate a home with rambunctious housemates. He is looking for a quieter home when he will get lots of love. Kids 10+ would be fine. Tippy is VERY chatty!

Tippy is about 6-7 years old (maybe younger). He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped, feline leukemia/FIV negative, and is current on flea/tick preventative.

Interested in meeting Tippy? Please complete an adoption application at: www.HalfwayHomeRescue.org.

It’s $5 Friday, and we need your support more than ever. We just received an email about a 14-year-old cat being surrendered—a heartbreaking yet common trend of senior cats losing their homes. Seniors require costly workups, diagnostics, and ongoing care.

This is in addition to urgent cases like Oliver with a neck wound, Bindi battling a rare flea/tick disease, Ross fighting FIP, and two new cats with severe urinary issues.

Our end-of-year plea is to raise enough funds to continue providing care while minimizing the financial anxiety that comes with these ongoing cases. Your $5 donation is tax-deductible and directly supports the animals who need us most. Let’s finish the year strong for them!

Day 6: Ross is feeling great!!

We’re still at the beginning of our FIP treatment journey, but WOW! Just a few short days ago, Ross couldn’t even lift his head. Thanks to amazing research, there is hope for kitties with FIP.

Ross’ treatment is expensive and lengthy. We still have 78 more days of injections! One vial of meds (known as GS-441) gives us three days of treatment for Ross. Each vials is approximately $60. When he regains weight, we will only get two treatments per vial. Ross is also taking the oral form of GS.

Please help if you can and please share. Don’t forget to check out our “Raffle for Ross” and enter to win some great prizes!

Nearly four months ago, we assisted with a hoarding case right here in our own town of Woodbridge CT. Nearly 100 cats, dogs, and rabbits were rescued from the home.

Seymour was one of those cats. THIS is just one photo of the conditions that Seymour and his housemates were living in! Many of these cats have struggled to get healthy as they were INFESTED with parasites and suffering from nasty bacterial infections.

Seymour has a mouth full of broken, rotted teeth. Today he’s having a dental procedure to get those bad teeth out so he can finish healing and be soon ready for his happily ever after.

Please help us to cover the cost. Estimate $1500 (dental, pre-op bloodwork, etc)
