A recent New Frontier Data report provides a comprehensive assessment of the general population regarding uses, purchasing habits, beliefs and attitudes about CBD products:
Key Insights...
• Nearly 9 out of 10 (88%) among CBD consumers reported that they have friends or family members who use CBD.
• Among CBD consumers, 84% report that they have had CBD recommended to them by someone they know; for non-consumers, 28% said that someone had recommended they try it.
• While non-consumers indicate that they get information about CBD from within their social networks, they tend to rely on friends or family (-26%) and social media (-22%) less often than do CBD consumers.
• More than one-third (39%) of consumers utilizes CBD primarily for Pain Management.
• Just under half of Medical consumers (46%) have discussed CBD with a doctor.
• 1 in 4 among Pain Management, General Wellness, and Unwinding consumers, respectively, claim to have only tried CBD once or twice.
• 30% of surveyed consumers expect their CBD usage to increase, signaling an opportunity for CBD brands to capitalize on a growing market.
• 49% of surveyed consumers do not have a preferred CBD brand, underscoring an opportunity for brands and retailers to implement loyalty strategies across the CBD market.
• 62% of Medical consumers of CBD use it at least weekly and are more likely to show brand loyalty.
• 79% of General Wellness consumers primarily or mostly source CBD through online retailers.
• 84% of consumers say CBD was recommended by someone they knew, offering opportunities for brands to capitalize on word-of-mouth marketing such as social media to attract new customers and build loyalty.
