Eliza is a sweet boxer who was diagnosed with an intestinal foreign body obstruction about 2 weeks ago. Dr. Gosselin and our emergency team took her to surgery, and she had 4 foreign objects removed.

Foreign bodies are a common concern for both the small animal and exotic pet patients we see in our ER. Signs of a GI obstruction can include: vomiting, lethargy, lack of appetite, abdominal pain, abnormal behavior, and diarrhea or straining to defecate. We diagnose this problem with diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, or abdominal ultrasound.

Eliza has had a smooth recovery and we were ecstatic to see her feeling so much better at her recheck on Monday!
