I know humans have a negative stigma when it comes to muzzled animals, but it's safety. Not only does it protect humans from a potential bite, but it also protects dogs from making poor decisions. Properly muzzle training a dog can be a life saver. The dogs' behaviors can longer work, and we can take that power away to confidently communicate with them. Dogs can have muzzles for non biting reasons as well. Dogs who ingest random objects out on walks may be muzzle trained to make sure they don't eat something harmful. Muzzles are an amazing tool tool.

This may not look like a lot, but we've been working on down for over a week now. Baby Taz was so nervous that laying down was impossible for him at the studio. With patience and lots of structured exercise, we're finally getting him to trust that it's OK to relax and rest. He is also accomplishing this with 4 other dogs in the room that are off camera! Super proud of this boy! My absolute favorite part of training dogs is when the light bulb finally goes off in their adorable heads!

Sebastian has been spending time with us for our day training program. This is why you've seen him frequently! One of Sebastians' struggles was being touched and checked for wounds, nails, or ticks. So, for the 3 weeks he's spent with me every day multiple times a day, we worked on safe touch. When I first met Sebastian, he'd get bitey when you'd check his body or touch his paws. Working him through trust exercises and draining excess energy, he's become much more relaxed with me touching and checking him. People don't realize that proper exercise for your dog helps you fix EVERYTHING! in the video above, you can see me making a bit of a game out of touching him. I keep it brief, and I make it fun.

Ronnie Kay here with baby boy Lemieux (Le-moo) has come to us with a lot of training under his belt already. He's a sweet, soft boy and needs some desensitization and confidence building. We spent over an hour at Home Depot today amongst the beautiful flowers in the garden section. We started far away from all the commotion. Alternating between having him hold his place or walking in a structured manner up and down the garden aisle. He's super shy of new people, and many stopped us to tell him how beautiful he is! What I did for Lem in these moments was talking the lead and making sure no one approached to closely. I wanted Lem to understand I would protect him from the strangers and make sure they held a boundary. After a while, he started calming and even stayed calm by my side, instead of trying to bolt away when I had a conversation with a lovely garden attendant.
