Everyone should have access to humane dog training with an educated, experienced, science based dog trainer, in order to keep their dog at home. My business was founded on this principle. I keep my prices as low as possible to achieve this.

How would you interpret this behavior? (answer below)
This Husky is exhibiting an often misunderstood Husky trait. They 'talk'. A LOT! They make noises many people translate as being aggression when it is, in fact, communication. This Husky wants out and they want out now. The rest of their body language holds the key to properly interpreting this behavior.

In honor of hump day:

Why do dogs hump?
I know, it can be so embarrassing! Understanding why dogs hump can help in coming up with a behavior modification plan. It can be a response to excitement, stress, too much energy, boredom, a medical condition, or even a way to get attention. Rarely, hu***ng can be a sign of dominance when combined with aggressive behaviors.

Have you ever had a dog that humps?

Another 5 star review. Thank you!
This Anatolian Shepherd mix takes guarding his people very seriously! So seriously that he cannot relax around strangers.

Today, I started a new course to better support dogs with anxiety. Even with minimal exposure, Animal Centered Education greatly affected my bond with Artemis and her confidence in the world. Enrolling in this initial course and progressing to the more advanced ones will expand my abilities, resources, and understanding to benefit your dogs.

Animal Centred Education (ACE) is an integrated and mutli-modal approach approach to animal well-being and education. It has been developed by animal educator and behaviour advisor, Sarah Fisher.

I don't want a robodog, I don't want my dog to pull me everywhere. I don't mind if they are out in front, as long as they walk with manners. Teaching those manners starts with me.

Our Story

I love animals. For as long as I can remember I have been completely at ease with animals and could understand and teach them easily. I only recently realized that not everyone has the same understanding! I opened For P.E.T.S., Pawsitive Education, Training & Services, first and foremost so that I could help pet owners and their dogs. I want to help you have the dog that YOU want, the one that makes YOU happy by behaving within the boundaries that YOU set.

My specialty is pet dog training. I am all about the bond between animal and human. I have never participated in obedience competitions with my dogs. Nor have I shown my horses. I didn’t participate in sports in school or ride during 4-H shows when I was a teen. I am not a competitive person. I also don’t agree with many of the forceful and often painful techniques that I have seen used to make sure that competing animals win.

I teach dogs to follow the rules and have manners while still allowing them to do the things they need to do in order to be happy dogs. What are those things? Sniffing the ground while on walks, being included in family activities, playing, exploring their environment and being allowed to meet and interact with other people if they want to!

Why am I offering professional dog training now? Because the field has had many advances over the last two decades that have changed how dogs are trained! I am so excited by these changes! I always hated seeing dogs cringe when their leash was je**ed or they were thrown to the floor in a ‘dominance roll’. I learned to train when physical punishments and painful management tools (think shock & prong collars and yes, I used them because that’s what MY teachers told me to do!) were the norm. I hated it. I finally went against the norm, trained my way and kept it as a ‘hobby’; something I did for fun or to help others.
