What’s going on, everyone? Quentin here! I want to highlight Daisy, one of my favorites from the big dog runs!

Daisy is smart, playful, and loves attention. She’s great with other dogs, not too big, and her black/brindle face with white fur makes her really stand out.

Come visit us and meet Daisy in person—she’s ready to find her new home! I’ll be posting a reel tomorrow featuring her and some other favorites.

Stop by and say hi—she might be just what you’re looking for!

🐱 Meet Our New Cats! 🐱

We have three beautiful cats available tomorrow when we open at 10 AM—each for $130, ready to find their forever homes.

Below, you’ll see three unique cats. Here’s a little fun: take a guess at their names! We’ll post their actual names in the comments later, so see how close you get—just for fun!

Hints:
- One’s name is a common spice, simple and warm—often used in baking or to add flavor.

- Another’s name is a word for a quick sip or a small drink, pretty straightforward.

- The last one’s full name is a bit trickier—it’s a two-part, double name that sounds like it’s describing a cuddly, majestic bear. Think of something you might call a big, fluffy friend with a warm personality—"____ Bear."

Start guessing in the comments, and check back later for the reveal!

This adorable girl is in our small dog/puppy room at Mississippi Animal Rescue League in Jackson. She’s a tiny Rottweiler mix, weighing around 15-20 pounds total—perfect size, super affectionate, smart, and loves to play.

Despite being such a sweet, well-mannered pup, Cricket has been overlooked—no applications, no interest, even though all her fellow pups have found homes. She’s ready to be your loving companion and truly deserves a second chance.

Let’s work together—please share her story so more families in Mississippi and nearby can see her and give her the love she’s been waiting for!

Open today 10-12 and 1-5: Come meet Cricket and see for yourself what a special girl she is!

Meet Bob! Bob is a 3-4 year old great pyrenees mix. This gentle giant was found and turned in as a stray.
🐾He is very affectionate, well-mannered, outgoing, good with other dogs, walks well on a leash, cat neutral, and loves children. Bob is the definition of a perfect family dog.
🐾He is medium-high energy so he will require daily play time and walks. His beautiful, thick coat also means he will need weekly brushing.
🐾Bob came to us with one of his nails grown into his dewclaw and despite this, he tolerates nail trims, brushing, and other forms of handling well.
🐾His adoption fee is $130 which includes updated vaccinations and his microchip.

As you can see in the video, our big dogs are having a fantastic time—soaking up the sun, drinking plenty of water, and jumping in a little mud here and there. They’re enjoying their selves and showing just how well they can play together.

Now, we know big dogs often take a little longer to find their forever homes. People tend to question how well they’ll do since they’re usually more mature and bigger, but as you can see, these pups are proof that they do great with the right family. We spend plenty of time getting to know each one’s quirks and personalities, and we can give you an honest assessment—so you know exactly what to expect.

Quentin is out there supervising the pack, socializing them, and giving these pups the attention they need. He’s got plenty of experience managing large dog groups, so the pups are in good hands. Today, MARL volunteers Bambi and Kathy hung out outside with the girl dogs, since the boys enjoyed some outdoor playtime earlier. They’ve been busy all day, having fun, and they’re loving every second of it. This time outside helps develop their pack skills and gets them ready for their new families—big or small.

And let’s not forget Hubert, our beagle buddy, who’s on patrol, making sure everyone’s getting along (and probably forgetting he’s also still looking for his forever home).

We’re always working to match these beautiful dogs with the right families. Many of these pups make loyal, loving companions—big dogs that know how to love big. Seeing them find their homes makes all the effort worth it.

If you’ve met any of our team or want to share your experience, drop a comment! Interested in adopting? Just ask—we’re in Jackson, Mississippi, and ready to help you find your new best friend.

Follow us for more behind-the-scenes fun—these pups have plenty more to show off!

Meet Lighting! Lighting is a 2-3-year-old hound mix. He loves to explore, is incredibly affectionate, loves his treats, generally walks well on a leash, does well with other dogs, and is tolerant of handling. He recently applied for a surgical veterinarian job at MARL, however, his poorly executed squeaker-ectomies and the fact that he to gave up halfway through his procedures made him ineligible to fill this position, even though his heart is in the right place.
His adoption fee is $130, which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip.

Siberian Huskies are stunning, spirited dogs that often find their way into shelters—sometimes because their boundless energy and independent nature catch their owners off guard. Known for their striking blue or multicolored eyes and thick, luxurious coats, Huskies are true escape artists and intelligent companions that crave activity and adventure.

These dogs thrive when they have a job, whether it's pulling a sled, participating in active play, or simply exploring the world around them. But be warned: Huskies are notorious for testing boundaries and can be quite stubborn. Training requires patience and consistency. They’re vocal, intelligent, and independent, making for a uniquely entertaining (and sometimes challenging) personality that’s full of charm.

In the southern heat of Mississippi, caring for a Husky means being extra vigilant. They prefer cooler climates and need plenty of shade, air conditioning, and hydration to stay comfortable. Without proper care, they can overheat quickly. Daily exercise and mental stimulation are essential, these dogs won’t do well in a sedentary or neglectful environment.

Living with a Husky in the South isn’t impossible, but it requires a commitment to their specific needs. They demand time, patience, and love, and in return, they’ll give you loyalty, fun, and endless entertainment.

If you’re ready to welcome a beautiful and energetic companion into your home, we have a lovely Siberian Husky named Haley available for adoption below. For just $130, the adoption fee covers spay surgery, microchipping, and updated vaccinations.

Come visit us in Jackson, Mississippi, and see if you’re the perfect match for this charming, spirited pup.
