We are excited to share our full list of dogs and cats currently available for adoption. If you scroll through this post, you will find detailed cards for each pet that include all the information you need.

We are currently working on creating flyers for all the cats and all new arrivals, and these will be added to this post soon. Please be sure to check this post/comments frequently for updates.

You are welcome to visit us today between 1 and 4 pm to meet these wonderful animals in person. Feel free to bring your own pets along for meet-and-greets; we are happy to facilitate introductions.

If you're interested in adopting, you can fill out an application either online or in person during your visit. Our online application link is posted in the comments.

Meet Duke! He is a 7-8 month old Doberman that was brought to us because his owner could no longer afford to keep him. Duke was adopted from the Rankin County Animal shelter. When the adopter attempted to return Duke, they were turned away by the shelter stating they had no room. Duke was not neutered upon adoption, which could have led to irresponsible litters. We have updated his shots and scheduled him for his neuter surgery with our staff veterinarian. His adoption fee is $130. Duke is housebroken, good with children, and good with other dogs. Please share his photo so he can find the perfect home!

We want to reiterate that we are the ONLY open admission shelter in the Central MS that doesn’t turn away animals. With this responsibility, comes a huge burden of making difficult decisions every day. Thank you for your support.

If you're interested in adopting, you’re welcome to fill out an application either online (posted in comments) or in person during your visit. We’re also working on creating some engaging and informative graphics to help you better assess the pets available for adoption. Please bear with us as we prepare these flyers; it may take some time, and we greatly appreciate your patience.

Of course, you can also reach out with any questions about the pets you're interested in. We’ll be updating the thread with any adoptions as they happen.

**ADOPTED**

Meet Marcie! Marcie is a 2-year-old poodle mix. She is very friendly, playful, housebroken, and smart. She is gentle when taking treats and loves to sit next to you. She was surrendered to us due to her anxious behaviors. According to her previous owner, she exhibits signs of moderate to severe anxiety when left alone. We have not observed overly anxious behaviors in the shelter environment; however, we would like to adopt her out to a family that can manage these behaviors if they resurface. Her adoption fee is $130, which includes her microchip and updated vaccines.

🐾 Today is National Black Dog Day! 🖤✨
This special day is all about celebrating and raising awareness for black dogs in shelters, highlighting their beauty, loyalty, and the joy they bring. Sadly, black dogs often face lower adoption rates, but today, we’re shining a spotlight on these deserving pups!

Right now, we have some sweet black dogs looking for their forever homes: Sweet Pea, Tux, and Piper. Keep an eye out in the comments for posts featuring adorable pictures and videos of them! Please share this message to help us find them all loving families.

Meet Sealy! Sealy is a 1-2 year old Weimaraner mix. She was brought into as a stray after being found in a church parking lot and brought into by good samaritan. She is still relatively new to the shelter environment so we haven’t been able to learn a whole lot about her or her quirks but we have observed that she is super sweet, affectionate, and playful. She is also very gentle when taking treats. Her adoption fee is $130 which covers her spay surgery, updated vaccines, and a microchip.

We were so excited to participate today in Holmes Community College Stress Pawser event for MARL. The students did an awesome job collecting food for our dogs and cats. Our great volunteers took some of our dogs for a little play time with the students and of course, a lot of cuddle time. Thank you so much Holmes Community College students for thinking of our animals. A special thank you to Jordan Heflin for coordinating this event.

Meet Libby! This pretty 9-month-old Blue Heeler mix is a social butterfly who loves to have fun. She’s housebroken, spayed, and up-to-date on shots. Libby gets along well with cats and dogs and has a natural herding instinct, which came into play during socialization.

Libby was originally adopted out but returned to us. During her socialization, she interacted well with several different dogs, which you can see in the videos below. If any pups in those videos catch your eye, check the comments for more details.

Libby is energetic and would do great with a big yard and plenty to do. She’s always been great with anyone she’s placed with and makes sure everyone has a good time. She’s full of personality and ready for her next adventure.

Her adoption fee is only $130. If you’re looking for a smart, lively pup who loves fun and companionship, please share her video and consider giving her a forever home!

Sally was brought in as a stray and she is such a sweet girl. She had no ID or chip and no one called looking for her. Saturday was her gotcha day when Sally was adopted by the Walker family. She is going to have a great time with her new family. She has a big fenced yard with a lot of room to run and play with her new kids, ages 7 and 10. Sally will live inside with the family that also includes Charlie their inside cat. Thank you so much Walker family for choosing this sweet girl and for adopting from MARL.
