It's the season of the witch! Did you know that October is black cat awareness month? Some may think they're bad luck but in many cultures they are known to bring love, fortune and prosperity. In Ancient Egypt, black cats were worshipped as gods. Not only are they special to a variety of cultures around the world, their black coats are great for survival! They may have evolved black coats from their ancestors to better hunt at night. The same gene that causes black coats also affects their immunity. Scientists discovered because of their stronger immune systems, they have an increased resistance to certain diseases such as FIV (feline immunodeficiency disorder). HOW COOL!

What's better than a black cat during their witching hour? 🧙🏼‍♀️

Here's just a few black cats we care for at ACS, in order: Oliver, Phoebe, Tobias, Wahoo, Comet, Kiki and Nickey!

Black cats have a harder time finding their forever home. The next time you are in search of a cat companion, consider a black one!🐈‍⬛

ATTENTION ACTON VOTERS! Acton's Dog Park Committee has applied for a $100K Community Preservation Act grant to help fund construction and accessibility features for the dog park. These monies will help significantly narrow the price gap that has resulted from inflation and other unforeseen costs.

The committee is asking Acton residents to attend Acton’s Annual Town Meeting, Monday & Tuesday, May 6 & 7, and to VOTE YES on Article 9, Community Preservation Program, Item K: Acton Community Dog Park. Reminder: CPA funds are already "in hand" so a YES vote will not increase your taxes.

And if any attendee speaks up to oppose the funding, please consider approaching the PRO microphone to defend our request.
Your voice, and your vote matter!
