MWD Bruce was the dog no one wanted and so he became my very first MWD to train as a VERY GREEN handler and an even greener trainer. My time at Lackland was the most informative times of my career and I still use the “secrets” I was given all those years ago from the world’s best dog trainers. Some of those men died doing what we loved. Some of those men I still speak to today and it means the world to me to still have them around.

Miss Summer started a few weeks ago but was not very photogenic. I think we have made some progress…..such a smart and sweet dog. She looks all business, but she is mostly cuddles. Welcome to the Perfect Pup Family Miss Summer!!

Everyone welcome Miss Tinker to the Perfect Pup Family!!! She is a very active pup that loves treats and going on adventures. She did amazing on her first day!!

We are sad to announce the passing of the Original Perfect Pup, Mr. Brodie Dietes. He was such an amazing dog and went against all the rules of a working dog. Brodie was a dog abandoned to a kennel and didn’t make the cut to be a working dog. So when he went up for adoption I decided to adopt him. He had a twinkle in his eyes I couldn’t resist. After about two weeks of adjusting to the new lifestyle I started to try him on explosive detection. He was a natural for me. He quickly learned the game and realized a tennis ball was life’s greatest gift!! He certified nationally in explosive detection and person borne IED detection. He now had a purpose. He started his detection career at Cedar Point in 2020 (part time) and later became the top dog at Cedar Point. He then worked for the Indians/Guardians, Cavs, Monsters, Browns, as well as a little moonlighting out at Khalahari. He was on top of the world. A couple years later he developed seizures and was forced into retirement where he lived his days helping me out with our aggressive students here at Perfect Pup. Brodie has touched many lives and will live on as a legend. From pound to purpose. A true underdog tale.

Ms. Nellie had a great day at training and Mr. Apollo didn’t even stay awake long enough for Uncle Matt to drop off the other dogs from school today!
