With Independence Day approaching, there will be loud noises that may scare your beloved equines. Now is the time to place medication orders (if you think your horse may need sedation) and discuss a plan of action with your veterinary team.
Call, text, or email us today if you think sedation may be necessary for your horse this holiday.

You asked and we delivered! The scale is now installed and working. Come get an accurate weight on your equine and get the number in their profile with us. If you are planning on swinging in, simply let us know in case we have the treatment area closed for appointments. We look forward to seeing you soon!
'Tis the season for Equine Asthma and Allergies! There are so many variations of treatment as different things work for different horses. Cooperation from both client and veterinarian is imperative!
If you think your horse may have allergies or signs of asthma, give us a call and get on our books! We have a few tools in our toolbox to help! :)

Respiratory health is essential to horse performance, yet it's often under-appreciated or misunderstood. The equine respiratory system is much different than the human’s and it has some limitations, to the point where even a little bit of inflammation or obstruction anywhere in the respiratory tract has a big impact on your horse's performance.
Conditions on the equine asthma spectrum have different manifestations and degrees of severity, so much so you may not even recognize that your equine friend's poor performance issues are related to respiratory health. For example, "feeling heavy,” lack of energy, and slow recovery times are all symptoms that could indicate a condition in the milder end of the equine asthma spectrum.
Reducing dust in the horse’s environment (including bacteria, endotoxins, mites, mold, and fungal spores) is the priority when it comes to both prevention and treatment. Some sources of respirable dust are very predictable (e.g., hay), but things like chickens or chemical spray on nearby fields are also among the many possibilities that could trigger an allergic respiratory response in a horse.
Identifying asthma triggers requires veterinarians and owners to work together, so be sure to consult your veterinarian to learn more about improving your horse’s environment and respiratory health!
You may receive an email prompting you to create an account with PetDesk in the next few days! Please make sure to check your spam folder if you don't see one in your inbox! We would greatly appreciate the feedback to see if this system is a good fit for our practice. 😊
Wishing Dr. Sera the Happiest Birthday today! 🥳🩵
If your horse is coming back into work after an injury, or they are exhibiting any kind of weakness/lack of muscling... chances are, you'll hear us talk about this book by Hillary Clayton. "Activating Your Horses Core" is an outstanding program to build your horses muscles, tendons, ligaments, and generalized strength and fitness. We enjoy this book and recommend it so often, we are now offering it for purchase!
We have spiral-bound copies (with DVD included) at the clinic and in the trucks that we are offering for $50.
Swing by and get your copy today! ⭐⭐⭐
Yesterday we hosted CVT students from Carrington College for an educational lab! We covered handling and restraining techniques, taking vitals, surgical prep, and client communication. Students were able to get some hands-on experience with the clinic horses. We sure enjoyed having everyone!

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there! We are grateful for you today and everyday! 🌸🩵
We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our “clinic mom,” Susan! She keeps us busy, organized and happy!
The Willamette Valley is the land of spring allergies! In addition to all your friends and family, animals can have seasonal allergies, too! Commonly, you’ll hear owners say their horse is using a lot of abdominal effort to breathe, always appearing out of breath, discharge from the eyes or nose, itching their tails out, even full body hives! The symptom list is broad, similarly to human allergies as well.
So, what can we do? Well, it all comes down to management. We have multiple medications we can utilize that will help keep them comfortable. We can also make environmental changes, such as wetting their hay, changing bedding, or moving them out of the barn, for example.
We also offer an allergy blood panel, which tests for over 100 different allergens (pollen, insects, grasses, etc.) so we can figure out what we need to eliminate from their environment.
It's National Donkey Day! We adore our long eared patients!

We have Maggie the BLM Donkey for the donkey appreciation spotlight.. She belongs to our assistant Emily (I'm always the one posting here😁)
I adopted Maggie as a wild 12 year old in 2020. She graced the clinic Open House with her presence last year and will be here again this year to get all the cookies and scratches. She is vocal, sassy, knows what she wants, and is adored by all. She also has me trained quite well. 😂 Make sure to come visit her this year, July 20th!

Lets see your beloved donks in the comments! 💕
Update: We've found one, thank you everyone for your help! ❤

Available at the NW Horse Expo and Fair THIS WEEKEND! We are handing out these super cool posters to hang in your barn. Use the marker, erase it and update it as needed! It’s cold out there! Horses are extremely resilient in the cold, and typically aren’t bothered as long as they have shelter and a lot of good forage. This is a great example of how their winter coat handles this freezing rain! Towards the skin is completely warm! ❄️❄️❄️
It's easy for your horse and their vet care needs to fall on the back-burner during the holiday season - but here is your reminder! ✨Dental Float: It's so important to fully examine your horses mouth and make sure they are comfortable, and getting the most out of their feed. It's also a prime opportunity to clean your gelding's sheath while he's sedated! (We've also got a dental special being offered right now, folks!) ✨Vaccinations: Keeping your horse up to date on vaccines prepares them for your adventures worry free! Vaccines also prevent your horse against environmental diseases. ✨Medications: Keeping things like Bute and Banamine on hand can be extremely helpful in the event of an emergency. Additionally, if your horse needs a specific medication for a condition such as arthritis or asthma, it's important to have enough in stock to keep your horse comfortable (and not run out!) ✨Parasite control: Submitting a fecal sample tells us what dewormer would be most affective. Parasites can be a threat to your horse if left untreated. It is important to have a good managment protocol and regular deworming. If you're ready to get this list completed, give our office a call, text or email and we'll do the rest! 541-207-8308 [email protected]
At our open house, we did a treadmill demonstration. We took our assistant Emily's mustang Falcon, and went to load him into the treadmill for his first time ever (NO SEDATION, just cookies!) He loaded right up and walked calmly for the whole time. This could be your horse, too! We are commited to training our patients to feel safe in the treadmill. Of course, if your horse needs a little sedation, we can provide that as well! * * Call today to schedule an appointment for our treadmill! 541-207-8308
Fun Fact: Horses begin to LOVE integrative medicine such as Acupuncture and Chiropractic. In this video: Forest, a mustang belonging to our assistant, Emily, is receiving his first chiropractic with Dr. Palsgaard. Forest had completely fallen asleep by the end of his session. Once horses understand that they feel better after bodywork, chiropractic, or acupuncture, they generally look forward to the relaxation. *************************************************** Want to see how happy your horse is after a session? Book a chiropractic or acupuncture with Dr. Palsgaard! 541-207-8308
What does a new foal exam look like for mom and baby? TONS OF SCRATCHES!! ❤❤ Mare Quizzie foaled out a beautiful colt this morning and our team came out to check and see how they are doing! Baby recieved a full exam, Vitamin E / Selenium shot, IGg kit and extra snuggles. Momma also got an exam to ensure she was comfortable and healthy! Assistant Emily had her hands full delivering enough attention to both Quizzie and her baby! Congratulations Amy on your beautiful new boy!
Tonight, with the help of Zoetis, we hosted a joint health and regenerative therapies client education. It started with a demonstration of our underwater treadmill! We are excited to be able to offer this service, and show owners what a typical session looks like. Thank you to everyone who came to spend the evening with us, and thank you to Zoetis for sponsoring this event!
