Bernese of Twin Oaks Produce healthy Bernese Mountain Dog Puppies that are bred from superior imported genetics while following the strict European Breeding Standards.

Ten years ago, we adopted a two year old male Bernese Mountain Dog, Omar. In his previous family, he had outlasted his welcome. They didn't understand what it meant to have a Berner as a part of their family. Omar was a 120 pounds of emotions that adapted and loved us unconditionally. Sadly, our time was cut short due to a collage of genetic shortcomings including a relentless battle of cancer. Wh

en he died, we agreed we wouldn't own another Berner, but time heals and four years we started to look again. The journey to have another Berner in our family wasn't an easy one. We encountered people that thought they had God given rights to genetics and it seemed that everyone had European Bloodlines. We were asked to complete applications to see if we were acceptable as limited owners of their puppies. Just when we were ready to throw in the towel, we met a very responsible breeder in Northwest Iowa. She cared immensely about her puppy's new families and had a very common sense approach to screening families. We bought Chloe, a beautiful female puppy from her and we are impressed with her imported genetics from Belgium. Chloe recently her passed OFA tests and her first PennHip Tests at the Iowa State Small Animal Hospital. We decided to responsibly raise the best BMD that is genetically possible. We imported an adult male and female from France. They are the most affectionate, gentle creatures that God ever created. They came from a loving family only 40 miles from Geneva, Switzerland. Max is now a 130 pound male, beautifully marked and bred for longevity. His sister, Lilly shares strong genetics with her brother. Their father is the International Champion, Rainbow Tasmanska Elitte. We finished our Berner Family with Stella, a female imported from Brussels, Belgium. Strong and heavier b***d, Stella amazes everyone at the Iowa State University Veterinarian College with her beautiful composition. She has been checked for all OFA Standards and had her first PennHip Screening and is incredible. Everyone seems to have a story of a pet that was unethically bred only to have a heartbeat and a pricetag. Usually, the story ends similar to our Omar. Even if you are at a time in your life that you are only looking, our family welcomes you to our farm. The time you spend with our Berners will only reinforce the feeling that someday you too will have a Berner in your family.
