Meet and Greet Fairlawn
Come see the Labs here at PSP in Fairlawn until 2:30!
***And Now a Few Thoughts...***
This is Marla who arrived Saturday. She is a breeder release. She knows nothing about our world, and we do not know that much about her ... yet.
We did find out that she is not familiar with the type of building we were trying to get her into....she came out of it for pics and vids but as you'll see here, well she wasn't coming back in.
We don't force uncertain dogs, but find a way to work through their fears. And there was a concern she'd back out of the collar even though it was well fitted...you just never know with a terrified dog.
When you see the posts of dogs we bring in, understand that they know nothing about the world they find themselves in and we don't know that much about them.
We don't know if they're housebroken (unlikely), good with cats, kids, other dogs, etc. This is all learned over time, in a loving foster home.
If you're up for the most rewarding challenge you can imagine, helping a dog like this blossom, please complete a foster application here:
https://www.lelrr.org/foster.html
(radius 50 miles from Medina OH)
Thank you!
P.S., had to crawl in backwards on hands and knees talking sweetly and making kissy noises but she did crawl into the building her tail wagging. Her growth is going to be amazing!
***Intake Alert - Welcome King!***
We sucked it in and squeezed in this handsome fella today against all odds, no fosters, low funds, slow adoptions etc. and we are glad we were able to rescue this 3 year old hunk.
Please listen to the vid for his story.
King - your life just got a whole lot better! We promise!
Please donate and/or share KIng's posts so we can get help covering his vetting. It's about $400 for intake vetting and a big boy like this, his neuter will easily be $800 with a possible scrotal ablation.... :-(
Thank you!
***Intake Alert - Welcome Marla!***
We were able to squeeze in Marla today against all odds, no fosters, low funds, slow adoptions etc. and we are glad we were able to rescue this 2 year old beauty.
Please listen to the vid for her story.
Marla - your life just got a whole lot better! We promise!
Please donate and/or share Marla's posts so we can get help covering her vetting. Thank you!
***Intake Alert - Welcome Smokey & the Bandit!***
These 2 half grown pups came from a bad bad situation south of Columbus and joined us just yesterday.
In yet another crazy year, they are dogs 17 & 18 for the month! ("normally" we'd do 4-6 a month but that has not been the case since 2019).
The are sooooo sweet, little Lab mixes that want nothing more than to cuddle and feel safe.
They saw the vet today and checked out ok except for a bit of kennel cough.
We are glad we could literally squeeze them in, but only because we have ONE foster who loves ALL puppies and although she has 3 already (Ash, Raven and Jet) she took in these forlorn boys.
We could use more fosters, please consider joining our team saving Lab and Lab mix lives!

***Intake Alert - Welcome Duke Wayne!***
Wanna see what happens when you take a smart, healthy Labrador and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with their mind and body?
This - out of control, un-channelled energy that annoys the owner so that they dump the unruly Lab in a pound, even though they caused the issue!
Duke Wayne is 4 years old and all of this was preventable but now needs to be corrected by a rescue. Do we see training in this boy's future? Oh yeah.
Too bad we can't train the clueless owners of dogs who end up this way. It happens all the time with all breeds and mixes!
This guy is one of those Labs we can just tell is going to be absolutely AMAZINGLY LABULOUS given exercise, routine and mental stimulation.
Welcome Duke Wayne - your life just got a whole lot better!
Thanks to our friends at Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center for calling us to the rescue!
***Intake Alert - Welcome Serena!***
Well, here she is, the 6th mill mama since last Saturday and 10th dog/puppy taken into care.
This sweetheart is 7-8 years old and clearly was kept busy being a mama. Her teeth are really bad and must be painful but still she was so sweet.
She'll definitely need a dental along with a spay AND her intake vetting....
Please donate a few dollars on this post if you can, or just SHARE this post.

Saturday Travels
Dog 10 of 10 pickup this week that was supposed to be an 8 dog week 😞
***Intake Alert - Welcome Jet, Ash & Raven!***
We've said it before - man plans, God laughs. One of the original 8 adults we planned on rescuing this week was adopted by a lovely family and then BOOM! magically 3 neglected puppies appeared.
Boys Jet, Ash and their sister Raven landed with our friends at the Tuscarawas County Dog Pound who called us to see if we could help. That's Lab math - 1 adult became 3 puppies ;-)
These puppers are very, very thin and anemic. At 4 months old, they should weight almost twice what they do (10 to not quite 12 pounds.)
This is going to take weeks to get them back on track and our one loving puppy foster is going to be taking excellent care of them.
We expect they won't be ready for adoption for at least 6 weeks (so no applications please!)
In spite of our low low fund, how could we say "No, we can't help we have no money for this?" We could not!
Please donate a few dollars on this post if you can, or just SHARE this post.

***Intake Alert - Welcome Harper!***
This sweet mama arrived today, dog 6 of the 8 we committed to last week.
We've named her Harper, a sweet name for a sweet girl who never had a nice name of her own at 6!
It was a hard pick up due to her condition as you will see in the video. (Original pics prior to vetting will be in the comments.)
Before you start commenting report them, can't you shut them down, etc. the surest way to shut down mill is END THE DEMAND AND THE SUPPLY WILL DRY UP!
Educate yourself, your family, friends, neighbors and strangers Bailing Out Benji don't buy that puppy in a pet store, online or from that "nice farm" out in the country because when you do, this is just one small example of a parent who is left behind to make more puppies.
Her condition is a perfect example of why on average every Lab we rescue is about $1,000 to restore their health and to be ready to start their new lives with their Forever family.

***Intake Alert - Welcome Sylvia!***
For those keeping count, this is dog number 3 of 8 coming this week - Sylvia, a pretty little girl of 2-4. We'll know for sure once she sees our vet.
We can only wonder what person/people let this happy girl get away and not claim her - we can guess.
Welcome Sylvia your life just got a whole lot better!

***Intake Alert - Welcome Blazer!***
Here he is, a bit road weary from his travels to us yesterday. 5 year old Blazer left his puppy daddy days behind and his new life started today with a nice bath, blow out and brushing.
He's a big boy who is a people pleaser and we can't wait to see him blossom even more!
2 down, 6 more to go!
Please consider a donation to our fundraiser to help with the approximate $1,000/dog (average as some need more extensive vetting while others need less.)

***Intake Alert - Welcome Candy!***
Candy is the first of EIGHT dogs joining us between yesterday and next Saturday.
She's a little shy and unworldly having spent her most of her 7 years birthing over 50 puppies - but no more!
Candy's new life started yesterday and today she got a nice relaxing bath and blow out and brushing.
She'll see our vet for intake vetting, head to a placement foster then be spayed - no more pups for this girl!
Later we'll introduce you to her friend who came with her.
2 down, 6 more to go!
Please consider a donation to our fundraiser to help with the approximate $1,000/dog (average as some need more extensive vetting while others need less.)
