These charming waders are born with a distinctive white down covering, resembling tiny balls of cotton. Nesting in colonies amidst lush wetlands and coastal areas, their breeding season typically corresponds with the arrival of the rainy season. Nests are carefully constructed with sticks and vegetation, often in trees near water bodies, providing protection for the vulnerable chicks.
Mating among Roseate Spoonbills involves intricate courtship displays, where they engage in synchronized movements and vibrant plumage displays to attract potential partners. Their vivid pink feathers and unique spoon-shaped bills contribute to their allure during these rituals. Despite their captivating presence, Roseate Spoonbills are considered rare due to habitat loss and disturbances in their natural breeding areas. Conservation efforts are crucial to preserve their delicate ecosystems and ensure their continued existence.
In terms of longevity, Roseate Spoonbills have been known to live for up to 15 to 20 years in the wild, provided they are free from significant threats and disruptions to their habitats. As these birds are dependent on healthy wetlands and water bodies, protecting their breeding and foraging grounds is paramount for securing their future in the wild.

UPDATE……He has been found.

LOST…….HUDSON FALLS

Missing from Third Ave in Hudson Falls NY around 3:30 on Saturday, July 9th. He has very bad seizures. He is very confused from them. This is urgent because he hasn't had seizures medication. We are so very worried about him. He was a rescue from NY City high kill shelter 11 yrs ago. He has on a black harness and a Seresto collar, he is also neutered

8/3/2022 UPDATE!! The owner has not been found, and she has been transferred into the care of the SPCA of Upstate NY. We are currently working with her under lying medical conditions.

This shy little girl was found on bay road heading towards Lake George. If you recognize her or know who her owner is, please contact us. Thank you.

ALFIE HAS BEEN FOUND — after more than two weeks missing! Owner Sandra Miranda told The Chronicle he was found around midnight in a backyard on Peck Avenue. The home's owner called her.

She said he is "doing pretty good! We took him to the vet already and looked good."

S’more is so happy to be living in freedom now away from those puppy mills. Having lived her whole life there was enough. S’more is a sweet female Pomeranian that is about 6 years old that has started to experience life. She is looking for a quieter home with a fenced in yard ( a must) A playmate to follow around is good so S’more can learn the ropes of what living in a home is like. Older children is best so she doesn’t get scared with the fast motion and sounds of younger children. If you are looking for a dog to jump up in your lap, be completely housebroken, walk on a leash and not run from you afraid at times then S’more is not your girl. In a 48 hour period, the kitten on the left received 217 inquiries. The kitten on the right 3 inquiries. They both went up for pre-adoption at the same time.
Black Cat Syndrome (and Black Dog Syndrome) is a very real phenomenon. Black coated cats and dogs are often overlooked in shelter systems and rescues. They are more likely to be euthanized in overcrowded shelters and we have even heard of rescues shamefully refusing to take on black cats and kittens. To top it off, black cats face absurd and ridiculous stigmas which place them in danger. Ironically, black cats are often the most affectionate and loving cats.
When choosing to adopt, consider a black cat or kitten (or dog). Their odds of adoption are severely limited. They love just as much as any other loving cat.

Never even thought about this! So Smart!!! When you are picking out your kids swim suit it isn’t just what is cute. Keep in mind if lifeguards will be able to see them too.
