Adopting a pet is such an exciting and rewarding experience!
Be sure to remember that it is also a completely NEW, unfamiliar environment for that pet. It takes TIME for your home to become their home.

The "3-3-3 rule" for dogs refers to the guideline that it takes a newly adopted pet to adjust to their new life with you.

- 3 days to decompress from the transition.
- 3 weeks to learn the household routines
- 3 months to truly feel settled and comfortable in their new environment

Key points about the 3-3-3 rule:
First 3 days:
Focus on providing a calm space, basic needs like food and water, and minimal exposure to new stimuli as the dog adjusts to their new surroundings.

Next 3 weeks:
Begin implementing training, establishing routines, and gradually introducing the dog to different people and environments while building a bond.

First 3 months:
Continue socialization and training, allowing the dog to fully integrate into the household and addressing any lingering anxieties or behavioral issues.

Patience is key:
Be patient and understanding during the adjustment period, avoiding sudden changes or overwhelming situations.
