Every once in awhile, we have the privilege of having our friends become our patients! This beautiful girl is our neighbor, Maya. Don't let her size intimidate you, at 93 pounds, this gentle giant is the sweetest girl you'll meet! She's still a puppy, and has the energy to out-play us all.

A few months ago, Maya was struggling to stand and keep up with her buddies in the cul-de-sac. X-rays and a diagnostic exam later, Dr. McAbee discovered she had cruciate tears in both knees. The solution? Double TPLOs.

Maya's prognosis was excellent, but keeping a 93-pound dog from bouncing off the walls has been a huge challenge. Major props to our neighbors for being the best caretakers ever: keeping her laying low, sleeping with her on the main floor, and providing tons of TLC. She's 6 weeks out and almost ready to run free again.

Thanks for trusting us with your girl, Heather & Matt! We can't wait to see Maya back to living her best life with her crew in the 'hood!

Drywall is going up at the new Spire Canine Orthopedics surgery center. It’s so exciting seeing our new home being built. More updates to come!

Construction is under way on the Spire Canine Orthopedics surgery center. Our state of the art orthopedic surgical center will be open in April of 2023. This facility will enable us to perform more advanced orthopedic procedures such as orthopedic trauma and fracture stabilization as well as total joint replacement and arthroscopy. Stay tuned for more updates over the coming weeks!

This 1 yr. MC Feline named Griswold suffered bilateral capital physeal fractures (left radiograph) and was reluctant to jump and frequently preferred to eat while laying down. Our surgical team performed a single session bilateral femoral head and neck excision through a ventral approach to help this young cat's pain and he should be walking much better in a couple of months. This is a novel surgical approach to the hip joint and enables the patient to recover much faster after surgery as the dorsal stabilizing muscles around the hip are not interrupted during the surgery. We hope to see Griswold up and walking again soon.
