Dreamcatcher Labradors just had another litter of 8 puppies on August 20, 2024. It is a repeat breeding of the last litter. Sire is GCH CH Bazurto's Greatest Showman and Dam is Dreamcatcher's Poko Tawa Warrior Princess. There are two male puppies, one yellow and one black that are spoken for and 2 black females that are spoken for and 3 Yellow Females of which one is spoken for. There are two Yellow females available.

One of my puppy buyers from 2019 passed away right after Christmas. His children can't keep the dog as one of them lives in Morocco now and the other is single and working all the time. Cooper was returned to me to be re-homed as that is what is stated in my puppy contract. He is 4 1/2 years old now and he has been neutered. He has a sensitive stomach so he can only eat his dog chow and treats that are for dogs with sensitive stomachs. He loves to go for walks and play. He is an avid chewer so most dog toys don't work for him! He likes Red Barn filled bones and Nyla-bones! He is very affectionate and would make a great family dog and can even be trained to hunt. Grey Girl, Green Girl,Lavender Girl, Brown Boy, Orange Girl are sold! Blue Boy and Turquoise Boy are pending but one of them is sold. Puppies are going fast! Dreamcatcher Labradors Poko Tawa Warrior Princess (Kiki) just had 9 puppies yesterday! 4 Yellow girls, 2 Black Girls,1 Yellow boys and 2 Black boys. The Sire of these beautiful puppies is Katy Bazurto's CH World's Greatest Showman (Hugh). I will be posting pictures of the litter when they get a little bigger and their eyes are open. Belle and Divot’s wins at Woofstock this past weekend. Belle took 2nd in her class both days that she showed and she took 2nd in The Specialty of the 9-12 month puppies and 3rd in Sweepstakes. She did not like the hot afternoon sun on the dry ground and did not show well in that event. Mr. Divot took 1st place in both Specialities in Open Black males. He took 1st place in Open Black males on Saturday and also won Reserve Winners Dog. The weather was hot and unfortunately the ring was in the sun for most of the events but at least the crate area was shaded! SVLRC did a great job with their Specialties and Prizes and CCLRC did a great job with their supported entry for the show! I think everyone had a good time!

Little Miss Belle won her 6-9 month puppy class today at the Chief Solano Kennel Club Dog Show in Vallejo, CA and she also won Reserve Winner’s Bitch! Not too bad for an 8 month old pup! Way to go Miss Belle! We are very proud of you! Thank you Sara Pearce and Madeline Hill for such a great puppy!

Birdie, Divot and Belle went to see Santa today at PetSmart and had their picture taken with Santa. They all behaved well and got cookies for a treat! They loved it!

California: Breeder Permits Bill AB 702 Set for April 27 Hearing – Contact the Committee Today!

On Tuesday, April 27, the California Assembly Business and Professions Committee will consider Assembly Bill 702.

It is crucial that all dog owners, breeders, and club members in the state contact the committee TODAY and ask them to OPPOSE Assembly Bill 702. Let them know how this would impact you as a California resident (scroll down for talking points and contact information).

Summary and Talking Points:

As stated in a previous alert, this bill as currently written creates an unfunded mandate requiring local jurisdictions in California to issue a breeder permit to anyone who owns an intact dog “for the purposes of breeding”.

When contacting the committee, consider the following talking points:

AB 702 attempts to “fix” a problem that doesn’t exist – According to supporters, this will address the supposed shelter overpopulation issues in the state – but this is not true. In fact, animal shelter populations in California have been steadily decreasing over the last decade. For example, in Los Angeles County alone, shelter populations declined by more than 19,000 from 2014 to 2020, according to the NAIA Shelter Statistics project (Visit naiaonline.org for more information).
AB 702 requires a business license that may be impossible to obtain – This bill would require a business license. Hobby breeding is traditionally done in residential areas – and getting a business license may put them out of compliance with HOA and zoning codes.
AB 702 creates an unfunded mandate without solving any problems – This bill will be extremely difficult for communities to enforce and provides no funding. This creates an impossible situation for California cities and towns – many of which are already dealing with budget crises.

AB 702 will divert scarce resources from enforcement of serious animal issues such as true animal cruelty and do nothing to improve animal law enforcement. Responsible, law-abiding breeders will be harmed by the measure, while irresponsible individuals already in violation of the laws are unlikely to comply with the new law.
AB 702 is unclear and many requirements are ambiguous – The bill outlines numerous new requirements for breeders and co-owners, many of which are unclear or may not be in the best interest of dogs. In addition, it allows individual jurisdictions to create additional requirements. This again will prove very difficult to enforce, not solve any real or perceived issues, and may harm animals. Consumer protection is a better solution to holding sellers accountable – Current law that provides consumer protection provisions for all those who sell all or part of 3 or more litters should be considered and examined before expanding law to breeder permits. Once an account is created, you can upload a letter from you or your club that will be made publicly available to members. Use the talking points above. Consider personalizing your note with your own experiences and insight.

Kiki turned one year's old today! She had a peanut butter carrot cake which she shared with her mother, Birdie, and big brother, Divot. She also got a peanut butter filled bone and played with her toys. You can tell they loved the cake! The pups got all decked out in their party hats for the occasion but they didn't last long! cake and play were number one on their list of to do things!
