About Me- The Professional
I have been working in the pet industry for 5 years. In this time, I have learned an incredible amount. I worked with a vet tech and entered the world of pet sitting. At the same time, I also worked for a pet supply store where I was trained in animal nutrition and behavior- this knowledge has served me well.
I am pet First Aid and CPR Trained. I also have the CPPS designation. I am able to administer oral medication to pets. I would also be comfortable with injecting medications, although I have not needed to yet (with the exception of administering fluids to a cat with kidney issues). I have an incredible attention to detail which is necessary for this as their health depends on it. I will always alert the pet parent if I see something that is cause for concern. I can also do light grooming, including nails and tooth brushing as long as the pet is amenable to it.
I have worked with cats, dogs, small animals, birds and fish. I have no restrictions on breed or size. My clients have ranged from Pugs to Great Danes and everything in between. I am extremely reliable- I realize that I am being counted on for the care of something highly important and I take that very seriously. Their comfort, safety and happiness are my priority.
About Me- The Human
I live a quiet and peaceful life with my husband, and two dogs (aka- the loves of my life). I also foster for a local rescue. I was born and raised in Massachusetts. In April of 2018 we sold the house, packed up the pups, and relocated to North Carolina for my husband’s work. We have purchased a home in Goldsboro and this is where we will now call home. From a small town girl to a big city (yes, Goldsboro is big to me) it’s quite a change- but I’m always up for an adventure and I love it! My faith and spirituality are very important to me.
I HAVE ALWAYS FELT A DEEP CONNECTION WITH ANIMALS OF ALL KINDS. THEIR SOULS SHINE THROUGH TO ME AND WHEN I AM WITH THEM I AM AT PEACE AND FEEL NOTHING BUT JOY- THIS IS WHAT I WAS MEANT TO BE DOING.
Why Choose FLPPC?
I realize you may have many options when it comes to pet care. Whether using a kennel or an online service, there are many considerations.
Some pets are not comfortable in kennels or doggy day cares. They can be hard on dogs with anxiety or senior dogs with weakened immune systems. Many kennels will not administer medication. In addition to the exposure to viruses and bacteria, there are also the supervision unknowns. The hours are far more rigid, with specified drop offs and pickups. They also require a multitude of vaccinations, which some pet owners are uncomfortable with. I only require an animal be up to date on rabies. So while kennels may be a good option for some- it’s not for many.
AS AN INDIVIDUAL BUSINESS OWNER AND EXPERIENCED PET SITTER THERE ARE MANY BENEFITS TO YOU. I AM NOT A “HOBBY” PET SITTER. THIS IS MY ONLY JOB- IT’S NOT FOR EXTRA MONEY OR SIMPLY BECAUSE I LOVE ANIMALS (OF COURSE I DO!) AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE “FUN”. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
* I can recognize signs of anxiety and illness in your pet and either address them or alert you to them. I understand that a wagging tail does not always mean a happy animal, or a yawn does not always mean they are tired and that you have to read all the signs they give to get a clear picture of their disposition.
* On walks and visits I am constantly scanning for signs of trouble. Other animals we may encounter, people who are approaching, and what your dog is sniffing (is it an underground hornet nest or fire anthill?). Any pet sitter you hire should know what to do in the event of a dog fight or injury. They will happen- that's the job. I have been bit, stung, clawed and broken up scuffles. However, a ‘hobby’ sitter may not know how to handle these events at all and this could escalate into more harm to everyone.
* I am here to stay- so I can develop long term relationships that are built on love and trust between myself, you and your pet.
* I have taken the time to develop a business and take it very seriously. Getting CPR & First Aid Certified and training with professionals. Getting Insured, Bonded and Background Checked. I have set up websites, pages, brochures and business cards. I have done research and am constantly educating myself. This is my life.
How it Works
After you contact me we will set up a good time to do a ‘meet and greet’. It is important for me to meet your pet while you are present and get the lay of their land. Because every client is individual we will go over your pet’s detail together- it is usually about an hour and it is free of charge. If you are comfortable with our meeting I will then ask you to fill out a pet agreement form with additional details such as contact information, pet specifics, emergency contacts and vet information.
