Casey September 2017
This big three year old has been with Adrianne for several months now, and you can tell that between the training she's put on him and the quality of horse that he is, that Adrianne has been set up to succeed with this guy! Casey is so consistent and balanced for his age.
Getting a feel for Freddie on Sunday night. 😍
Naches Deputy For Sale
Sorry to have made you guys wait, but here is the big, handsome gelding I was teasing about last week.
Winston, or, according to the Jockey Club, Naches Deputy, is a 2004 OTTB gelding who is looking for a new partner. Talk about TALL, dark, and handsome, this guy should make someone a great mount for dressage, jumping, etc.
He's about 17hh (we haven't measured him, but he's TALL) and is easy to get along with on the ground. He is quiet under saddle, has more whoa than go, and is ready to be pushed towards the discipline of your choice. He's currently in Glade Spring, VA. All inquiries should be sent to Ryan Smith at 484-459-1982.
Casey 30 days in
Casey's owners sent him to WTLE to get him started under saddle and working towards ranch riding/reining/cowhorse type riding. While Adrianne hasn't had a huge amount of experience in these disciplines, she is off to a great start with the stop that she's putting on this young gelding!
He has been under saddle just a bit over 30 days and is already looking like he fits the part well! Adrianne is looking forward to tapping into the knowledge base that the move to the new facility has granted her in having access to Rydon Performance Horses trainer, Ryan Smith, who specializes in these disciplines. Keep an eye out for Casey and Adrianne! Big things are happening with this young horse!
Junior and Scottie
Junior is a 2 year old American Saddlebred gelding who has been with Adrianne for 30 days now. His owner has sent Adrianne 5 horses in the last few months, and with results like these, I'm not surprised! In this video you'll see Scottie, Adrianne's husband, taking Junior for a spin "under the dome." Not bad at all for his first time riding a Saddlebred! Junior's owner hopes that he'll be a western type Saddlebred, and based off of how he's going after just 30 days, I think he's going to get his wish!
Junior on the lunge
Young ASB student, Junior on the lunge line a while back. Sorry for the lack of posts lately, this pretty weather has Adrianne hopping with horses to ride!
Also, did you know that Adrianne is in the midst of taking a large animal veterinary assisting class to learn how to treat injuries and handle emergencies better? Being willing to continue to learn new things about caring for your animals is one of the many reasons that WTLE is a great choice for YOUR horse!
TC Final Ride
TC, the 2 year old ASB mare that came into the barn with a drag rope earlier this spring, went home this weekend. She made amazing progress during her time with Adrianne and is going to make a nice mare as she continues to progress and grow up. Her owner dropped another horse off with us (his 5th this year!) when he picked her up. We truly appreciate all of our customers, and think of it as a high compliment when one owner sends so many!
In this video, Justin Parks takes her for a spin before she heads home to see the differences in her from the early days when he helped Adrianne with her. :)
Casey First Rides
Good morning everyone! Casey has really been exceeding expectations the last few days during his first rides! The footage after dark in this video is from his FIRST ride and the daylight footage from the second. Holy cow is this horse going to be NICE! His third ride was amazing, but unfortunately we didn't have anyone on hand to video. Such a good minded and attractive boy, and that canter! 😍😍😍 See for yourself!
Sunday and Moonshine Out and About
Moonshine (palomino) and Sunday (black) out in the cow pasture getting a taste for the country life! Adrianne is on Sunday in this video and Justin Parks is helping out by putting some miles on Moonshine. Riding out in new areas can be stressful on a horse, so it is great to have a buddy horse along so they have that reassurance that all is well. Looks like the gaited boys handled everything well!
Casey First Saddling
This video is on the lengthy side, but worth watching to the end! This was Casey's first day being saddled and lunging. He does buck a little on the lungeline, but considering all of the changes in his life over the last few days, that isn't unusual. It looks like he'll be a versatile mount for his owners, and he will certainly look good doing whatever they point him too! 😍
Star Early April
If you saw our previous video of Star, you're going to see some significant improvements after watching this one! She is much more balanced and is becoming consistent with her frame. Keep in mind that Star is for sale and would make a great all around horse for someone who wants to trail ride, dabble in dressage, etc. If you are interested in Star, she does go home at the end of the week, but we are able to put you in contact with her owner if you message or call us. 276-620-6067.
Poco Beginning of April
Here is a short video of how Poco has been progressing! Looks like he's doing great! You'll see at one point he trots by new student, Casey, who halter pulls while tied on the wall. Notice that Poco just trots on like a champ despite things getting a little rowdy within a few feet of him. :)
Working With Poco's Feet
Poco's owner requested that Adrianne work with his feet some while he's at Walk the Line. Watch with us and see how he does! He's a smart cookie!
You'll notice Adrianne uses a soft, cotton lead rope to work with his back feet before picking them up on her own. This keeps Adrianne safe and allows Poco to figure out what she expects of him. You will notice that he jerks her around a fair amount the first time she picks up that left hind, but when she gets to his right hind, he seems to already get the idea. :)
This morning I promised a video where I asked Adrianne and Bella to take things to the next level. I casually asked Adrianne if she's asked Bella for a a flying change yet and she said no. So naturally Adrianne decided to try it out while someone was around the video it. 😉
You'll note that Bella lifts and switches leads with her front legs immediately but that her back legs need a few strides to catch up and switch. This is pretty normal for a horse just asked for a flying change, and we're impressed with how well she interpreted the request and "ran" with it as well as the fact that she was asked for something new and took it 100% in stride without becoming concerned.
Bella Simple Change
Remember a while back when I shared that video of Bella doing simple changes at Ivanhoe...but the video was from Adrianne's perspective from the saddle? Here is a video where you can actually see it happen!
This little mare is really coming into herself at WTLE. Stay tuned for a video this afternoon where I challenge Adrianne and Bella to step it up. 😉
Keep in mind that Adrianne started Bella "from scratch" and that this is a remarkable example of what a horse is capable of with Adrianne when left for extended periods of time!
Star 3-18
Here is some footage of Star, the 2006 PaintxAppendix mare that we have for sale. Adrianne is still getting to know her, but so far she's fitting in with the program well. She wasn't phased by the flapping tarps at the covered arena (and trust me, the wind was howling, hence why this entire video is muted) and stood quietly while Adrianne mounted and dismounted. She's soft in her mouth and has a forward trot and a soft jog, someone is going to get a nice mare here!
Getting to Know Poco
New training student Poco took Saturday's session in stride in the covered arena. He walk, trot, cantered both ways (despite the fact that I apparently took a break from videoing for half of the cantering...sorry...) with the tarps flapping in the "breeze" and three horses tied on the wall. He does seem to be rushing in the canter some and you can tell he's nervous, but consistency will help him build back his confidence.
Thanks to everyone for their well wishes yesterday after the announcement about the new facility. It is nice having all 9 training horses plus Marty and Killian in one location and we look forward to seeing everyone out and about enjoying their horses this spring!
