If you wonder what that group I talk about called LIMA beings is all about, and why I never miss a call. They are having a free open house community conversation, this Friday at 8:30 am pacific / 11:30 am eastern.

Chris Pachel, Kathy Sdao, Lynn Unger and Barrie Finger will start with a brief discussion to introduce the topic, and then we will transition into the normal format of our community calls, where everyone is invited to participate to the level of their comfort.

Please note, for the privacy and safety of everyone in attendance, pre-registration is required, and this conversation will not be recorded.

Drake.... Jello Dog, My other heart dog, you and I we had a thing. There was always something special about you and that big wide open heart, we connected from that very first day.

You and my boy Bodhi were the same age and we met just eighteen months apart his best friend and hikin' buddy. My girl Tara did not trust dogs - but she trusted you with no issues ever. Even my cat Grace, who distrusted the world loved you and let you steal her toys. You were, my friend the best-est of boys.

You fathered and grandfathered pups that continue your legacy as family dogs and working dogs and all the in between... Well balanced dogs with a drive to work, a cuddle me/belly rub attitude AND an off switch. Very, VERY rare in the world of dogs these days.

You joined me through every class of therapy dogs I ever taught and together we certified well over 100 teams. We made visits as a therapy team, attended therapy events all over and you helped to grow the CareGiver Canine teams to serve our community.

Today i am reflecting on life's infinite circle, I am happy it exists. I am grateful for where I am in my world that I can see these beautiful memories and this grief and the love behind it all.

Thank you Carl, Colette, Carlie and Joecarlo for sharing Drake with me.. but mostly thank you Drake for being boundless in your adaptability, and relentless in your love.

Oh yeah a he was a stellar hunting dog too, but never hurt the "home ducks" they were his friends.

Thanks to Jennifer Anderson for her question. "Why is my dog willing to choke himself to death by pulling me the entire walk, instead of avoiding what can’t be comfortable and just walk like normal!" This is a very common question among dog owners. When we look at it from the dog's point of view w...

My dog simply doesn't want to drink when he is outside sometimes. This summer enrichment treat is more about keeping your dog hydrated than about food, but we won't tell them. You can adjust the amounts and the ingrediants to fit your dog size and treat preferences. Make a few and keep them on hand.

“This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn’t come home. This is not Veterans Day, it’s not a celebration, it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom.” – Tamra Bolton

Spring Safety: Dogs do not just bite "out of nowhere" There are always warning signs and usually for quite a while before a bite takes place. Take a look at these two men having a great time with their dog. Unfortunately, as you can see from the dogs eyes and ears he is not enjoying this moment.

Often times we put our dogs in "fun moment" without taking a moment to see how they are doing.

The second photo shows just three of the things that may be going on to make this dog nervous or stressed. Tell me what you think - do you see anything else?

Our Story

Starting Compassionate Canine is the realization of a lifetime of being in connection with animals. Kelly’s focus when opening Compassionate Canine Training was to utilize positive reinforcement (R+) training to solve the real frustrations of families living with the training challenges of daily distractions.

Working with you in her training center or in your home, she is able to train your dog in the things most important for YOU. Together, we will cover all the basics of obedience training focusing on your specific behavioral concerns. In this way, Kelly creates a plan for you to find a reliable path to better enjoyment of your dogs’ company.

By engaging the family in the training process, Kelly has found that owners end up learning as much, if not more than their pets.
