Sadly, this heartbroken family lost their beautiful 7 year old Border Collie named Kindle on Wednesday when she suffocated in a chip bag. Wendy Jordan, a professional dog trainer, says, "I can’t write now. It’s too raw. I have warned people for years about Pet Suffocation. I’m a dog trainer/business owner by profession. And today, because I left a chip bag on a table, in an area I thought the dogs didn't have access to but knew they sometimes could get through, my best dog of my pack is gone. She opened the gate to the deck, went up the steps, got the chip bag, took it down the steps, even spilling some of the chips, and then somehow accessed the inside and suffocated. She was right beside my gate where she is used to entering and exiting the yard. I’m devastated. I may never buy a bag of chips again. I used to worry about this when my kids were young, and I warned my kids when they left home with their dogs, and yet one freak accident, and I’m the one it happens to."

Even though someone may already know about pet suffocation and take all safety precautions, accidents can still happen. We can only do our best. Kindle was a very determined pup. Her story will help save other pets from this happening to them. Please help us spread awareness. Thank you.

More exciting news from VIPK9!

We have formed a non-profit subsidiary of VIPK9 that will allow us to to train and/or evaluate dogs to become certified in therapy work!! In addition, future plans include a food pantry for families struggling to feed their pets (not just dogs) and fundraising to help offset medical costs for families in need, support the cost of training as an alternative to rehoming or surrendering your dog, and provision of general supplies involved in dog ownership for those who have fallen on hard times.

We are in the process of getting final approval from the NYS Charities Bureau which will allow us to accept donations as well as launch everything we envision. I anticipate that in the next month or so.

The Le Roy Town Board approved our Special Use Permit application to allow for boarding and daycare to be added to our services when we relocate to 7133 West Main. Thank you to Nancy, Alena, Mary, Denise, Barb and Stormy for coming in support.

Much appreciation to Jeff Steinbrenner and Mike Risewick, Code Enforcement Officers, who helped me navigate the paperwork process, Patty Canfield who dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's, Bob Bennett for his help with Genesee County Planning Board, and all the members of the LeRoy Town Board who voted in support.

Dog Importation Regulation; New Rules will Start August 1, 2024

CDC is updating its dog importation regulation to protect the health and safety of people and animals by making sure any dog arriving in the United States is healthy and doesn’t present a risk to our communities.

Starting on August 1, 2024, all dogs entering the United States must:

Appear healthy upon arrival;
Be at least six months of age;
Be microchipped; and
Be accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form online submission receipt.

Additional requirements are based on where the dog has been in the last six months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States. For dogs arriving from countries with a high risk of dog rabies, they must be protected against rabies.

The rabies virus variant carried by dogs (dog rabies) was eliminated in the United States in 2007 and CDC wants to prevent the re-introduction of dog rabies into the United States. This regulation builds on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic when a temporary suspension was enacted for the importation of dogs from countries with a high risk of rabies. This suspension will expire when the updated regulation goes into effect on August 1, 2024. The regulation also more closely aligns with the World Organisation for Animal Health’s standards for the international movement of dogs from countries with a high risk of dog rabies. Furthermore, it addresses recent challenges seen with international dog importations, such as fraudulent documentation and dogs housed in unsafe conditions if they didn’t meet requirements for entry to the United States...More information: http://caninechronicle.com/?p=286957

Just an FYI, we are getting quite a few scammers that are replying to people that see our page trying to get them to go to a different page. Legitimate breeders do not do this to other breeders. These are people that are trying to get you to buy on their scam. They are stealing our pictures and videos videos to use for their own benefit on other pages. I added these photos of our youngest babies so that people would stop and read this post.
