Our border collies are top of the line competition and family dogs. We health test every animal and strive to produce outstanding companions. Wow- everyone has been so kind and the outpouring of support has been very sweet. I believe all my adults have found a home ❤️❤️ I’d love to continue to receive updates on past litters and to be able to share those here. Perhaps in 5 years when my tiny kids have got bigger I’ll have time for the dogs again. It’s so important that this breed be given a job and trained or they get bored. No dog deserves to be put to the wayside and I recognize that. Once again, thank you everyone!

New kid on the block! Not 100 percent sure on a name yet but I was thinking Lassie, Lass for short. We will see 💗🎀 My plan is to use her for scent work seeing as we sold our stock except for our 2 milk cows. With my background in herding it might be hard to keep away from that venue but we will see. She isn’t ABCA registered, only AKC, so that’s a change and I could do conformation shows with her

Update on Star: It turns out she had what’s called Water Intoxication. A condition that occurs from drinking too much water, upsetting electrolyte balances. Drinking too much water can decrease sodium in the blood to dangerously low levels, causing life-threatening problems. Ataxia, nausea, and vomiting are symptoms. Severe cases can cause seizures, coma, and death. As the weather warms up this is a great reminder how important it is to monitor your dogs around bodies of water and make sure they aren’t drinking to much especially when playing fetch in water. Star has thankfully made a full recovery and although thousands of dollars were spent in vet bills, her parents are very happy she pulled through!

They are at the fun stage now where they want to explore and play!

Story time! I got a call earlier this month that someone had adopted a dog from a senior dog rescue and they did an embark DNA test on that dog. The results were 100 percent border collie and she was related more than 50% to a couple of my pups! The new owner tracked me down through my website and got in contact. I dug and dug, looking through all my records and spreadsheets trying to match what her vet said through dental ID to how old this dog was and to how long I had been breeding. Finally the new owner sent me a picture of the dog and I instantly recognized her. Its PANDA! Stars mom! She was found wondering the streets, not dead like her old owner had told me when I asked about her in September. Her former owner didn’t go looking for her, didn’t even care apparently. I instantly offered to take her and give her a home but the new owner has fallen in love and obviously she has the best life she could. What a crazy tale and an amazing ending. From a no name found dog all the way to a named, full pedigree, well known ancestor of many of RVF Border collie’s puppies. Enjoy your new life Panda, I’m so happy to know you ❤️❤️

About RVF Border Collies

Our primary goal is to breed the healthiest and conformationally correct border collies we can. With that in mind we do selective breedings, on limited basis usually twice yearly. In our dedication to keeping the breed as healthy as possible we have all our border collies DNA screened through Optigen and PawPrint Genetics for CEA (Collie Eye Anomaly), TNS (trapped neutrophil syndrome), IGS (Imerslund-Gräsbeck syndrome) and MDR1 (Ivermectin sensitivity). All our dogs over the age of two years are screened through OFA for hip and elbow abnormalities as well. Our pups are sold with a health guarantee and provision that the dog be returned to us if for any reason the buyer cannot keep it.

We want each of our border collies to live out their lives as valued family members so we do the best we can to place them according to the new owners personality and the dogs work desires. Many of our dogs go on to be very successful in herding, agility, and trick training but titles are not as important as health and longevity are to us.
