Hi everyone! Volunteer/foster mom Gabbi has an online auction on eBay, to benefit Southern California Siamese Rescue. All money raised will go to the medical fund to help our cats in need. There’s 8 days left to bid on some really cool cat related items and also has a “buy-it-now” option for people who don’t want to bid. Shipping is paid by buyer with eBay’s great shipping rates. ISABELLA STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Baby Isabella was not feeling well after her spay surgery, and foster mom Kim brought her to the vet. After having an x-ray, it was discovered she had developed walking pneumonia and was in critical condition. Isabella was treated for both viral and bacterial pneumonia and was placed in an oxygen chamber. After being on oxygen for a few days, there was little improvement breathing on her own. Euthanasia was discussed, and foster mom was devastated to hear that. The staff had fallen in love with Isabella, and after giving it more thought, the veterinary team got together, discussed her case, and decided not to give up on her. They felt she had a chance of survival, if she was given more time, and received oxygen, until she was stable enough to breathe on her own. After 9 days, Isabella was finally released and was stable enough to go home with foster mom and to continue her recovery with medication and under doctor’s care. Isabella is not out of the woods yet, but we are seeing improvement. She needs time and Isabella needs your help!

💙💙💙💙 MEET ZERO! 💙💙💙💙

Another fantastic red point Siamese! Looking for a lap cat and a lover boy? Then Zero is for you!

This guy is super sweet! Zero loves attention! He loves to cuddle and be close to foster mom. He curls up on the couch next to her, as soon as she sits down, and loves to be in her lap. He is also gentle with other cats. Zero also enjoys playing with toys and playing with the cats in his foster home. He would love to have a friend to go home with, that’s in his current foster home. Zero just turned one year old in October. He has a long, sleek torso... super handsome, and has beautiful blue eyes!

Zero will be ready to go to his forever home around December 15. He will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and up to date on medical.

If you are an approved adopter, you can set up a meet and greet, and see how terrific he really is.

If you’re not approved yet, get your application in, get approved, and Zero, as well as any of our cats could be become your next family member.

Fostered in Mission Viejo

🐾🎅 🎁🌲 A CAT’S LETTER TO SANTA CLAWS 🌲🎁 🎅🐾

Oh dearest Santa, I promise I’ve been good.
Always used my litter box and eaten all my food.
That broken lamp was a minor transgression.
I don’t think it required that time-out session.
And it wasn’t I who shred the arm of that chair,
Besides, isn’t that why they come as a pair?

The hairball on the human’s pillow didn’t come from me.
I don’t have floofy fur, as you can plainly see.
And all that litter spread throughout the house hither to yon…
It sprang right out of the box long after I had gone.

And you know that sandwich the human left on the table…
I swear it was stolen by a stray mouse named Mabel.
And the Christmas tree that suddenly toppled over…
Was not pushed by me but a marauding gopher.
I have no idea how these critters invaded my space,
I never leave the cat door open or out of place.

Oh, dearest Santa, I’ve truly never ever been naughty.
So please bring me some toys from Jackson Galaxy.
And a big bag of nip to last a whole year…
Please, oh please, oh please Santa dear.
And some nommy treats would be totally pawsome
I’d eat every one and not leave a crumb.

For I, the cat, have been as good as a cat can be
So please don’t pass me by this Christmas Eve.
If you’ll stop by my house once again this year,
I promise to leave cookies and a bit of good cheer - beer.
And as to next year, I raise my right paw
And promise to be a good cat, oh dear Santa Claws.

Yours truly, The Cat

🎅 🎁⛄️🌲CATS AND THE CHRISTMAS TREE 🌲⛄️🎁 🎅🐾

Your cat has the best part of a month to paw at, chew on, pull down, and get tangled up in everything, including the Christmas tree. Here are some tips to help keep your furry best friend safe this holiday season.

1. Buy a tree that does not shed its needles or does not have the very sharp needles. Whether your tree is artificial or real, secure it firmly — put it in a corner and place weights at its base. You can also anchor it to hooks in the wall if needs must — so that the whole thing doesn’t fall over during one of your cat’s climbing expeditions. The tree will remain upright and not injure your pet by falling.

2. Although a holiday tree is not poisonous, it still poses a hazard. It is important to prevent your pet from chewing on a live or artificial tree as the needles are sharp and can irritate the mouth and digestive tract if eaten. The needles are also indigestible and could be painful for your pet to pass.

3..If you keep a fresh-cut tree in water, or use chemicals to maintain the tree’s freshness, use a tree skirt or something else to cover the fluid reservoir so the cat isn’t tempted to drink her way to an upset stomach or poisoning. Toxic chemicals (fertilizers, insecticides and flame retardants) were used on the tree.

4.. Also avoid using any artificial snow sprays or scents on your tree, they are toxic to cats if he should lick it.

5. Avoid low-hanging tree ornaments and tinsel that might intrigue your cat’s wandering claws, as well as scented garlands or edible popcorn strings. No tinsel or angel hair! These items are particularly attractive to cats. When it is eaten, it can cause blockages which often require surgery to remove.

6. Keep holiday lights high on the tree. Some lights can overheat and burn pets. Other inquisitive pets can pull the lights off the tree and become entangled in the wires. Chewing on wires can cause problems ranging from burned mouths to death by electrocution. Make sure to place ALL wires out of reach.

7. Avoid glass ornaments on the tree. Pets will often play with ornaments and as glass breaks easily, severe cuts and injuries to the mouth, esophagus and paw pads may occur. If glass ornaments are a must, then place them high on the tree where your pet cannot reach them.

Make sure to spend quality time alone with your pet every day. This will allow you to observe your pet for any unusual behavior or symptoms, as well as to enjoy the tranquility the season can bring. Happy Holidays!

Today on Giving Tuesday, we ask for your support. Without your generosity, we couldn’t do what we do. Because of you, this year we were able to save Emma, who was found severely burned, and she spent weeks in the intensive care at the hospital. Sugar Cone who needed surgery to have her eye removed. Bodhi who suffered from Stomatitis, had all his teeth extracted, so he could live a happy, pain free life. Now we have a kitten that is in need.

After 9 days, Isabella was finally released and was stable enough to go home with foster mom and to continue her recovery with medication and under doctor’s care. Your donations this Giving Tuesday will help benefit Isabella, as well as our other cats in need.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 for the Siamese and Siamese mix cats that need our help. Your donations make a huge difference in how many more lives we can help and save. No donation is too small, and your donation is also tax deductible.

🐾🎅 🎁⛄🌲TRIVIA TUESDAY 🌲⛄️🎁 🎅🐾

DOES YOUR CAT LIKE SWEETS?

Researchers have discovered that cats, seemingly alone among the mammal groups, lack some of the proteins needed to create the gene that helps the body taste sweets. Cats only seem to have one of the two known taste receptors that detect sweetness.

Many people say they have cats that are attracted to candies, ice cream, pudding, etc. They are sure their cats love sweets, but it is probably the fat content of the food that they are drawn to. Cats are easily able to detect fat.
