Hey FB friends,
It’s is that time of year again when wildlife babies are being born. Here’s some friendly reminders that they DO NOT MAKE PETS .
If you see a fawn, leave it be. Momma will come back for it when it’s safe to come back around.
Same for raccoons, leave them in their nest. Momma will come back
Squirrels are learning to climb and away from their nests, momma is around somewhere, If you can find the nest, put them back in it.
Your scent will NOT make momma reject baby. That is an old wives tale.
Quit stealing their babies to make your pet. 1. It’s a lot of work and not worth it, 2. ITS ILLEGAL IN TEXAS TO KEEP WILDLIFE AS PETS! 3. If you think the baby needs rescuing look up your local rehabilitator on the Texas parks and wildlife website or get ahold of your local game warden. They will get in touch with us ( licensed wildlife rehabbers).
I get it they’re adorable, but admire them from a distance.
