Willoughby Croft Dairy Goats

Willoughby Croft Dairy Goats We are a performance herd in SW WA committed to raising high quality Mini Nubian & Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats for show & milk. Our main focus is on Udders/milk.

We participate in 305-day milk testing, linear appraisals, and local shows. This adventure began back in 1997 when I was living in Spanaway, WA, on 1.5 acres. At that time I had a dozen hens, 6 sheep and an angora goat. I spent my days raising children, caring for my critters, and spinning wool into yarn. My husband decided to turn our garage into a fiber studio to give me a place to store my many

wheels and newly acquired floor looms. It is at this time that my life made a bit of a detour. Somehow that fiber studio became a yarn shop. Which was soon outgrown and the shop moved to 4631 Pacific Ave.in Tacoma, WA. I was the proprietress of Lamb's Ear Yarn for 12 years. And 12 years in retail is plenty long enough. In 2011, at the age of 52, I was able to retire and return to the farming lifestyle that I love. My life has come full circle. In 2014 I moved to Winlock, WA. I now live in a 1904 converted schoolhouse on over an acre. Willoughby Croft was born. I raise Registered Dairy Goats. Life is good.

Downsizing continues. To those wondering if I am "getting rid of" inferior goats, no, these are all very nice animals. But when you "cull till you cry" this is what happens. I have a set number of goats I want to keep. It will be a very small herd. So, say I had 30 does and had them ranked, according to my criteria, in order, top to bottom. And I sold the bottom half (this is what has already happened). Now those goats that were "middle of the pack" are at the bottom. This is where I am now.

In order to keep my herd at a manageable level I am following Dr. Kirt Schnipke's "Cull Till You Cry" philosophy. And tears are definitely being shed.

In order to get to where you're going, you have to know where you want to be.

Up for discussion is this sweet Nigerian Dwarf doe along with her son. They are a package deal. Excellent lines. She is a first freshener. He is 4 weeks old. She is registered with ADGA. Both are very friendly. Both are chocolate gold.

If you'd like to discuss them, please fill out our Goat Questionnaire: https://crazihippichic.wixsite.com/willoughbycroft/questionnaire

Charlie is still cracking me up. I swear, I love a goat with personality and intelligence. She did the same thing this morning. Ate all around her Vit. C tabs. I got the bolus gun, stood in front of her and held it up....and once again she gobbled the tabs. 😂 If she does it tomorrow, I'll try to get it on video.

Connie and Smooch left for their new home this morning. I'm so glad they will have each other. That should make their adjustment much easier. Downsizing is painful. I hope their new owners love them as much as I do. ❤️

WLOBY CROFT GO BLONDE BOMBSHELL
F1 Mini Nubian
Gold with BLUE EYES

Blondie is a very special girl. Her dam is our current best milker, giving 7.5 # a day as a second freshener. Blondie's sire won reserve Champion at the recent Summer Sensational show in Longview, WA. Blondie also placed 4th in a large class at that same show.

If you are wanting to add unique color, blue eyes, and show potential to your herd, you might want to give this girl a look. She's ready to breed this fall.

To discuss Blondie, please fill out our Goat Questionnaire and I'll get right back to you.

Goats are so funny and SMART. Smarter than we give them credit for sometimes. I was reminded of that today and couldn't help but laugh out loud.

I have been giving Charlie some Vitamin C every day. Charlie doesn't like it, so I've been using a bolus gun. Today was the 6th day and I thought I'd try just putting the chewable (they taste good) vitamin C tablets on top of her grain. Of course she ate all around them. She just flat out refused to eat them and was looking at me defiantly. So I went to grab the bolus gun. When she saw me approaching her with it she hurried up and gobbled those tablets right down. 🤣🤣🤣

This cut is hard to make. She is an absolute sweetheart. Follows me like a puppy to get loves and is my current highest producing milker. But she no longer fits with my breeding plans. I have a limited amount of space and can't keep goats just for pets. The good part is, she should be able to find a great home as she has a LOT to offer.

JKG FARMS WHOAH NELLIE
Purebred Nubian
Born 5-18-21

Nellie is friendly, loving and very easy to handle. She has perfect milk stand manners and is easy to both hand and machine milk. She has had 2 freshenings and has easy births. Her only downside is she is not a very good mom. She likes the babies well enough, but she really doesn't want to take care of them. I don't mind since I pull all kids to bottle feed anyway. All of Nellie's kids have been gorgeous. I kept her 2024 Mini Nubian daughter.

Nellie is currently on monthly milk test and is giving about 7.5 # per day as a second freshener.

Nellie is a structurally correct doe and of the correct height for a Nubian (both of my other Nubian does are under height and small for their breed, which is why they are being retained for my Mini Nubian program).

Nellie will be a perfect fit in many scenarios. She'd be great for a first-time goat owner since she's so easy to handle. She'd be wonderful for as a homestead milker. She's in milk currently and giving plenty. She'd be useful in a Nubian breeding program. She has an impressive pedigree. I'd love to get her into a home where she could be on milk test as I believe she'll earn her production star.

If you are interested in Nellie, please fill out our Goat Questionnaire and I'll get right back to you. https://crazihippichic.wixsite.com/willoughbycroft/questionnaire
