A long term family friend needs to rehome their dog. Please read and share and let's find this sweet dog a new home.
We find that we need to re-home Moe and hope you might be able to help us find a good one. He is a 5-
year-old , ~60 lb Pitbull and (we think) Boxer, and maybe some Pointer, mix. He needs lots of love and
exercise. We have the love down, but we are not active enough for him. He is like the Energizer Bunny.
He is a loving smart dog. He loves belly rubs and shoulder/neck massages.
He is muzzle trained (he needs to be muzzled for vet visits – he is petrified of the vet). He is also kennel
trained. He is a resource guarder - everything from rubber ducks, tennis balls, Kleenex (dirty and
clean), dust cloth, to puke. He usually goes after our feet (especially Maryelle’s) if he thinks we are
threatening something he is guarding – and that can be a behavioral problem for us. Also, this summer
the heat seems to be bothering him. He loves to chase airplanes, hawks, ravens, vultures and he can be
obsessed about it. Twice now he has become overheated and he becomes agitated – although lately he
seems to recognize it is too hot and comes in before he gets too hot (Cheese is always a good incentive
to come in.)
We love him but think he would be happier in a more active home with lots of love, no children, and as
an only dog. He gets along well with Raven our Terrier /Lab mix (but she does try to get him in trouble
like any sibling would) and other dogs. He would love to go to a day camp once in a while and he enjoys
going to Retriever Ranch where we board the dogs.
Our dog trainer and friend, Bree Holcomb, is writing an evaluation that we would be glad to share.
Mostly he needs a firm, loving hand. Lately our physical limitations have interfered with our ability to
give him the appropriate attention he needs. We would appreciate it if you could get the word out and
help us find him a good home.
